I wouldn't be in favor of him being banned just because he quickly deletes most posts or based on a generally annoying nature. I would, however, be in favor of him being banned because he routinely violates forum rules (e.g. threatening people, unabashed racism), if such is the case. I would hope that admins could read deleted posts so as to be able to determine for themselves whether he violates rules often enough to warrant being banned (or, obviously, whether they feel he sure be banned for whatever other reason they might have). I haven't read enough of his posts to have a definitive opinion myself, but my sense is that he's probably earned a banning.
That said, how effective can an IP-banning really be? I realize (or at least think) that vrai has to approve new screen names before they can start posting, but how hard would it be to get around an IP-banning and continually register new screen names? It shouldn't require more than a tiny bit of cleverness. While many fool's errands are likely to result in little more than an innocuous waste of effort, some are likely to exacerbate the problem they're meant to mitigate. My guess would be that a banning in this case would be more likely to exacerbate the perceived problem than to mitigate it.
I feel smarter after reading that post. Like I should be wearing a tweed jacket and smoking a pipe.
