I read a few years ago (I can't remember where) that the straight porn industry has had a delusion of invincibility regarding HIV. The actors are convinced it can't happen to them, apparently. Plus the producers feel that condoms bring down the audience, literally and figuratively. Whereas in gay porn, the article said, condoms have become a requirement on screen.

Believe it or not, I rely on articles like that for my information about porn, since I've never seen anything more explicit than an "erotic thriller" on cable.
