Post College quality products...

I graduated.. 2.5 years ago and took all my pots, pans, silverware, etc. out to the "real world". Since then I have slowly began replacing the crappy "$40 for 20 pots, pans, silverware, etc" things with quality products. I am hoping by the time I get married next October I can have a nice collection of things ready for the wife to make me my dinner (just kidding...).

I was wondering what companies yall buy for nice quality kitchenware. I was buying some Kitchenaid appliances, but wanted some more suggestions!

TIA

Where are my pants?
Kitchen Aid makes nice stuff. So does Cuisinart. I have small appliances from both of them that I have used virtually every day for the last ten years and they have held up excellently.

What specifically are you trying to purchase, though? People could make much better suggestions if they know what you're looking for. Dinnerware? Pots and pans? Standing mixer? Food processor? Casserole dishes?

Also, if you're getting married next year you may want to hold off on purchasing some of the stuff---put it on your gift registry instead.

Pretty much anything and everything. Pots, pans, processors, coffee pots, ... absolutely anything and everything you use in the kitchen. Right now, if I can't make it in a pot or pan, it doesn't get made. So I am looking for all the things that -you- use in the kitchen.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far! Keep em coming!

And aye, anything that we don't get we are going to put on the gift registry. But neither one of use are very enthusiastic about getting gifts for the wedding. We'd rather people just come and have a great time instead of feeling like it is a meal ticket. So we are trying to limit the items that are impersonal like this and just let our friends and family get us things that will remind us of them.

hmmmmmm
I have Cutco knives b/c my friend was selling them, they're pretty nice but Chain has a set of knives that are super sharp (cut myself 3x on them) I don't know where he got them. I love my cast iron pan, its a must have. I like my glass blender, and my pyrex measuring cups and pans. I replaced my teflon with porcelain and green non-stick cookware.

Don't limit yourself to "sets" of pots and pans. All Clad are the best pots and pans, but with sets you usually get one or 2 pieces that are not practical. What do you like to cook? Soups, braising, baking, etc. They don't all have to look the same. Go for utility and quality.

The Emeril stainless stuff is pretty nice and nice to look at.

For knives I like Chicago Cutlery, not ultra high end but very good.

I have Wolfgang Punk cookware. I'm not a huge fan of it. Everything sticks to the pans. I'm actually glad I kept my cheapie stuff because sometimes it just works better.

I like Calphalon stuff!!
