Pot Luck Dessert Ideas, Christmas-like

BadGirl

I am so very blessed
Can somebody give me an idea of a fabulous dessert that would be appropriate for a large group of people, that is pretty AND delicious, and can be made without a mixer? [my mixer is currently disassembled, and the replacement parts might not be here in time for me to make this dessert for a Wednesday luncheon]. Better yet if it has a Christmas theme to it.

Skip the jello salads and the overdone things that everyone else brings. I want something different and exciting.

Thanks!

Always my favorite for a big crowd, easy to make. Whenever I make it, it always goes quick and I usually make a lot.

Watergate Salad Recipe - Kraft Recipes

And I have a similar recipe, only mine is called 7-Cup Dessert, as it is one cup each of:

Coconut
Sour cream
crushed Pineapple
mandarin Oranges
Mini-marshmallows
maraschino cherries
Chopped pecans
And 1 box of pistachio pudding

The green pudding plus the cherries might make a festive Christmas-y presentation.

That sounds awesome, I'm going to save that one.

Funny that you mention this, as I have a terrific recipe for bread pudding that I was considering.

In your recipe, have you made it without the alcohol? How were the results?

Work function.....not sure how well an alcohol-laced dessert would go over.

I have never used the alcohol in it. It is rich enough without it. And it's safer than jello shots!

Do you drain the pineapple and oranges and cherries?

I did those yesterday, used white chocolate with green food coloring for dipping then sprinkled them with red, white and green sprinkles.

Exactly! :high5: I usually dip them in white chocolate, which you can color to your choice, or just dip and them sprinkle with whatever you choose to make them festive.

take a box of angel food cake mix, mix it in bowl. pour a can (16 oz) of crushed pineapple into mix; put in 9 X 15 pan, bake, let cool and serve with cool whip! Low fat, low calorie, & good for you and they all will eat it up!!!

My daughter got this off of Pinterest. I made it yesterday, and it was yummy. About as easy as you can get; 2 ingredients. All voted it was better than pumpkin pie. I did muffins in paper liners, and just added a blop of Cool Whip when served.

Ingredients

• 1 Duncan Hines Spice Cake Mix
• 15 oz. Pumpkin Pie Filling

Baking Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees for metal and glass pans, 325 for dark or coated pans.
2.Grease sides and bottoms of cake pan (I use a bundt cake pan).
3.With an electric mixer blend cake mix and pumpkin pie filling in a large bowl at low speed until completely mixed together.
4.Pour batter into bundt cake pan and bake.
5.Bake 38 to 43 minutes
6.Let cool completely
7.Can either dust cake with powdered sugar or make a simple frosting with powdered sugar, vanilla and water.

Mix up the dry pudding mix with the sour cream, and then incorporate drained fruits along with everything else. If the combined mixture is a bit too stiff, mix in some of the extra juice that you drained off.

Keep in mind that the mixture does 'set up' in a few hours, so it will get a bit thicker a few hours after you make it.

Oh, yeah. Chop up the nuts and the cherries slightly before you mix everything up.
