Look up the 3 day potty training method. It worked for my little man, he's never wet his bed even once. He was "pee trained" within the 3 days. Poop training took a little longer but that's fairly common. I laughed when a few Moms told me about the 3 day method but it had worked for so many of their kids that I decided to try it. I was shocked that I saw progress the very first day, after various other methods weren't so successful.

Seriously, it was going well for us and all the progress is gone now. What did work and works for some is allowing the kiddo to be bare.
My oldest was a pain too, and he's stubborn like this one. None of the normal candy, hoorays, etc worked. When he decided it was time it was time

It begins this weekend.
Advice?
Daycare has started my son at 18 months old sitting on the potty, waiting, just waiting. Using pull ups. At home he watches daddy and we have the little seat for the poddy so he can sit on it. I've heard many say it won't really sink in until around 2. GOOD LUCK. I don't know if my son is "getting" it or not because he is at daycare all day, but they are working on it every day. When he gets up from naptime it's straight to the poddy.

Boys are notoriously harder to train than girls. Put them on the potty often, even if they say they don't have to go. Give them a book to look at to distract them while they are sitting there. Pack plenty of patience, give rewards when they go and, most importantly, don't let them drink anything after dinner! Oh, and don't freak if they backslide after a while, especially if they're young. Learning control is not only a mental thing, it's a physiological thing. Good luck!

Do you have carpet or hardwood floors? Either way be prepared to clean...lol good luck!

IMO, the biggest problem a Parent has, is themselves. Once you decide this is it, do not put a Diaper back on the child. That just lets them know it's OK to potty in their pants here & there. It's so easy to say, "Well, I just have to run up the street, so I'll put the diaper on for the trip" Big mistake! My Son trained himself at 2 1/2 years old. My Daughter had to be trained at 15 months, because she was getting rashes all the time, so the Doctor advised training her early. I let her go bare bottomed for the most part, but I bought some terry training pants for her, and we made a HUGE deal about the "Big Girl Pants". When she was bare, she would go, and seemed like she didn't know what was happening. We'd clean it up, and throw the paper in the toilet. After about a week, I noticed she would look down, and then go. That's when I knew the Brain & the Bladder were in sync. Just know this, your child won't be going to School with a diaper on. Eventually they ALL train.
