Pre-K Parties

So my little one had a pre-k party for Halloween last night. Each parent was asked to sign up for something to bring. Apparently, I was the only one who signed up for food. Every other parent signed up for cups, napkins, plates, or juice...there were other items to choose from - but some parents didn't sign up at all. Others signed up and didn't bring what they signed up for. So I brought in more than was my fair share - so it would be nice for my child. The school is having a party a month - so the kids have fun along with learning - do I really need to plan on feeding everyone elses party snacks for the school year? I hate cheap parents - especially the one who counted out an exact number of paper cups.

You need to talk to the teacher about this issue. How big is your childs class? If it is small maybe the teacher could collect a small amount of money now and buy cups, plates, and napkins for all of the parties throughout the year. Then the parents would just need to bring food and drinks for each party. It isn't that hard to go to the store and pick up some snack food for a kids party so every parent should be capable of that. You shouldn't need to feed the entire class.

I made cupcakes on Monday because my daughters class (pre-k) had so much for the party on Friday. The teacher asked me to bring something on Monday. I made eggless, no chocolate cupcakes due to allergies in the class.

Thankfully the kids in my kids classes do not have food restrictions or allergies. I also make cupcakes and sent them to both kids classes. A hit all around - except of 1 little boy who had never seen a cupcake and wasn't going to eat anything orange (the frosting). I made both vanilla and chocolate to keep everyone happy - and happy they were. Makes me smile to do something nice for the kids.
