Pregnancy Question

How far along do you have to be in order to see a OB-GYN? My wife is concerned that the baby is not in the right place. She told me that she cant see the doctor until 6 weeks of a confirmed pregnancy. Does anyone know if this is true.

If she has any concerns that she might have an ectopic pregnancy she needs to see a Dr. right NOW. Ectopic pregnancies came become emergent very quickly and cause serious complications. Find a doc pronto.

Id have to agree with seeing a doctor asap! My fiancee saw her OB-GYN at 5 weeks, but if your wife is suspecting an issue she should go immediately.

I was told when I found out that I was pregnant that most doctors will not see the paitents until they are about 8 weeks. I am sure though that this is as long as nothing is wrong. If she feels something is wrong she should call ASAP in the morning to her GYN and tell that what she feels and what symptoms she is having. They will be able to tell her better how to deal with the sitituation and whether they will see her or not.

Is this her first pregnancy?
When in doubt go to the ER!!!

All,

Thanks for the advice. This is my wife second pregnancy. She had a miscarriage 5 years ago. She is having pains on her left stomach. At times, I think she is over stressing herself. In a time like this, I don't want her to stress out and cause a miscarriage. Thanks for the advice.

That could be nothing at all or it could be something. There is no way of telling. How far along was she when she had the last miscarriage? I have had two and with the three pregnancies that I have carried now I have had concerns all the way through them that this little pain could be something or that little pain. If she had a miscarriage that is gonna make her worry of the littlest things. Tell her to just rest and not get herself all worked up because that can cause problems where there are none. With her concerns have her call the doctor in the morning and discuss it with them. Has she made an appointment? How far along is she?

As an OB/GYN, I'd just like to say, call the doctor now.

Call the OBGYN and express concern - if they won't make you an appt go to the ER. That said, if she is currently in dire pain - go to the ER immediately. Most OB's won't see first time moms until 11 weeks as most are by then considered viable - lost ones before then, the general feeling is they would be lost any how.
