Biden admin crackdown on water heaters would go into effect in 2029 as it targets more home appliances

The Biden administration has targeted a variety of home appliances, including gas stoves, clothes washers and air conditioners

The Biden administration's newest crackdown on home appliances, specifically water heaters, would take effect in 2029 if its regulatory proposal is enacted as it continues to implement its aggressive energy efficiency campaign.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday acknowledged the president was going after home appliances.

The newest target is water heaters. A Department of Energy (DOE) proposal released late Friday said new regulations would ultimately "accelerate deployment" of electric heat pump water heaters, claiming it would save Americans billions of dollars and reduce carbon emissions.

Are they giving away free replacement appliances? If not, calculate the new appliance costs into the equation and tell me how much I save now.

Just sneakin' around....
I needed to replace my hot water heater a short while back, and decided to go with a hybrid. I have found that it does save me money, but the initial $2k for the product and install was steep. It does take much longer to recover to 120* while using the heat-pump-only mode, but I'm the only one in the house, and my usage is minimal, so it goes unnoticed to me.

Thing is... if you have a family that's always using hot water, lots of showers, clothes washer, dishes, etc.... a hybrid in heat-pump-only mode will never be able to keep up. At that point, the electric coils kick in and it's no different than a regular electric hot water heater. No benefits, no savings, no eco-savings. The hybrid does save money and electric, but only in low usage conditions.

Forgot to mention of couple of side pros/cons of a hybrid or heat pump heater. It uses the heat from the surrounding air and transfers it to the water, and expels cool air. If it's in a basement that's already cool, it has to work longer to achieve the desired temps while making the basement even cooler. Kind of fights itself for BTUs. But it is also a dehumidifier, so dries the air while making hot water. It's taken a load off of my regular dehumidifier.

I'm still trying to figure out how white supremacy is the reason so many black babies are born out of wedlock. Now if the kids were all born mulatto, then I could see how they could claim that. But that's not what is happening.

"Racism" has been so overused, it's lost its sting. Everyone is repulsed by the concept of "white supremacy".
Until they start applying it to EVERYONE.

Already they use "right wing extremists" to describe ANYONE on the right. Just heard a commercial saying that right wing EXTREMISTS have taken over the Supreme Court.

If I may ...
For your consideration ...

Right wing, left wing. Both are part of the same bird.
