i have this cat who is about 10 years old now. He regularly refuses to use a clean litterbox and its driving me insane. is there anything i can do?? he has been doing both #1 and two... ugh. HELP! i am seriously considering getting rid of him because he is 10 years old, he fights with my other cat when the other does not even attack him. my younger cat is very gentle. What do you suggest?

So does he use the litterbox when it's not "clean"?

No i don't want to get rid of him; but live on low income currently.. i may take him to well pet clinic though. He doesn't normally use it at all the past week and i clean it daily and i don't want my other cat picking up his scent and doing the same thing.

If you clean your litter box daily, that is probably the issue.
He's older, and may need help finding the litter box by smelling his scent.
I'm not cat expert, but that makes sense to me. I don't think I know anyone that cleans the litter box that often.
If the issue is too many cats, maybe you need a bigger place for them to do their business, or two litter boxes?
Daily cleaning shouldn't be necessary.

Multiple cats prefer multiple boxes, and refusal to use the box can indicate an issue like a UTI or constipation.

Ding... Switch back to the litter you were using or he will continue this behavior... Cut back on something else so you can afford the litter.. Make the cats happy!

well he could be...so keep an eye on him, but it is much cheaper to try the litter thing and THEN take him to the vet if he's still acting up.
Good luck :yahoo:
