Professor of English Jennifer Cognard-Black had a short story published in April’s edition of Story magazine, titled “Daughter Mother Daughter” under her pen name of J. Annie MacLeod.
Story magazine has published such writers as Sherwood Anderson, John Cheever, Truman Capote, Norman Mailer, Elizabeth Gilbert, Barry Lopez, Abraham Rodriguez, Phong Nguyen, and Claudia Hinz. The magazine has consistently been one of the first to publish writers who have later been awarded literary honors such as the National Book Award, the Pulitzer Prize, and the PEN/Hemingway Award, or who have received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Institute of Arts and Letters, and the Guggenheim Foundation.
