Program for Flea Control - anybody use this?

I just bought "Program" and realized I have to actually get my cat to ingest it instead of putting it on her. OMG - I don't know if that will work BUT am wondering how this stuff works. Does anybody have any experience with this?

I was also upset to read that it doesn't do anything for existing fleas and the package insert recommends using something on the cat to kill fleas for two months! Had I known that I would have just ordered the damn Frontline!

I am now afraid to give my cat this internally and want to get some feedback first.

When that came out my first thought was are you kidding me? Putting chemicals into my pet to kill a pest. I am leary of alot of vacinations, let alone internal pesticides. I will admit though I have not researched it or educated myself on how it works.

Katelin

I would recommend a topical application, such as Revolution for Cats.
Not only treats fleas, but will take care of ear mites and heart worms.
For area treatments: look at Adams Flea spray it kills adult fleas on contact.
I use it on kittens and smaller wildlife and after killing all the active fleas, the animal gets a quick bath to remove the remaining Adams solution.

Keeping cats inside and using Revolution is a great way to avoid fleas from causing a year round problem.

And in any situation involving chemicals and your cats, ask your Vet.
Some cats may react to a chemical that 99% of the rest of the cat population has no problem with. ( Just like people).

Hope this helps!:howdy:

Program

My Cats were getting Program Injections at the Vet's Office, every 6 months, plus..they were getting Advantage Topical. I stopped getting the injections, mainly because of the expence. I really didn't see a difference in it. I didn't know that Program had a Topical either.

They don't have a topical. I did not realize - I thought I was getting Revolution becuase the site I ordered from advertised that program took care of heartworms, and other worms too but it doesn't. I have e-mailed the company and they have offered an exchange for another product - i think I will take them up on the offer. My kitty is a PIA about taking meds.

The place i get my stuff from is in Canada. Much cheaper!
