Program removal?

I have nearly 100 programs installed on my PC. I know I don't need them all and some look like duplicates.. What are the basics when it comes to installed programs? It's just so ocluttered in there.. Also, why can't i remobve some programs/? I have an architecture one and a screensaer that I have tried to uninstall that won't come off of the list?? Grr.

This A.M. I cleaned house in this same area. Are you going into Control Panel; Add/Remove Programs? Duplicates may be removed without causing too much operator stress by checking the installation dates and removing the oldest. If you're concerned that you may be removing part of the operating system, it's safer to just leave it. I cleaned out about 10 programs I never use, didn't know what they were and have 53 remaining. Good luck with your "house keeping".

Heh.. If it were so easy.. I have a load of programs on this list I can't identify and have no way of finding out what they run.... 5 Adobe programs(flash player, shockwave and document reader active x9) 3D home architect( won't uninstall) Altwin (x2) Context Display (x2) HP excacation desktop WeblinkURL Loooootts more.. Al ot hasn't been used since 2003 or 2004 I'm also missing something :#msntb_toolbar_full_name# And whenever I open a program it gives me a message reminding me to reinstall it before the program opens.. I don't use MSN stuff??

Hmmm. I only have one old program that won't unistall, Wal Mart dial up which hasn't been used in 5 years. Like you, I don't know why. Just in the last few minutes I removed ShockWave since I don't play games, never used it and never will. Seems pretty redundant to have to reinstall something in order to remove it. Duh. I'll sleep on it to see if there is another way to get rid of your unused sites. There's gotta be a way.

Hey..go to BELARC.com downlaod free program, print out results...you will be surprised what you really have in your PC...

maybe in the program listing - there will be a remove program Item ...

do you have the system CD's ....

OK I did the Belarc thing and man there's some crap on there.. I have to go find the program cd's for the stuff I put on there myself..I know I have the 3dArchitect one somewhere.... :dig:
