Our church is doing this again this year. Anyone interested in helping let me know. It's a great program!
My kids are doing it with me this year. I think it's a great way to get them involved with helping others. You can actuall deliver the gifts to the kids. I am really looking forward to seeing their faces when they receive the gifts!

"Delivering gifts of love and a message of hope to children of prisoners

Welcome to another season with Angel Tree Christmas! If you're a first-time volunteer, you'll soon understand our excitement and enthusiasm as we reach out to families of prisoners. There is so much joy that comes with sharing Christ's love with kids who have a mom or dad in prison."

I don't want to sound like a biatch, but aren't our tax dollars already going to support inmates that are in prison and probably a very high percentage of their families too?

I would think donations would be better directed toward the inmates victims. JMO.

Believe it or not The children did not ask for their parents to be in prision, they may even be very ashamed by it, seems to me "They are the victims"

So you think the kids of inmates aren't victims also if their parents are incarcerated? This is not for the parents, but for the kids. It is voluntary, not from your taxes. I am choosing to do this with money from my pocket. Not all people in jail are there for drug, murder etc. Even if they are, it's not my place to punish the kids. People can change in prison/jail for the better. Their kids still deserve Christmas presents.
The parents have to sign up for this. It doesn't go to everyone.

You have a very good heart! It's about loving others and Forgiving as well. Not that you need to forgive the person in the prison,( you should if you can as hard as it may seem) but forgive the child and love the child because it is not the fault of the child. Maybe if the child can feel Loved and specail ( make them feel important ) they may end up becoming a better person and not in some kind of trouble themselves.
