Maryland's self imposed ban on gas appliances 1/1/23 is to eliminate greenhouse emissions in the State I guess.
Did this start the ball rolling on eliminating propane powered forklifts? Vehicles? my coleman soldering bottles? Backyard BarBQue grills?

Acetylene torches have a nasty heavy carbon trail. Pretty bad for the State....

I was nicely surprised that the price at Three Mules only went up by $2 per 20lb refill. :yay:

They already are. I got a long email from them last week telling me to contact my delegate and senator to tell them to vote No. A lot of good that will do. Our shadow delegate is in lock step with the Dem machine in MD as we recently saw... again.

So @TPD, are you ready to run for delegate like the citizen farmers of old?

These politicians who appear to be so tied to the green movement have lost their minds. In the suburban Washington neighborhood where I grew up as well as the surrounding areas almost everyone had gas heat, gas hot water heaters and gas stoves in their kitchens. Most still do and the infrastructure is still in place. I can't imagine large utilities like Washington Gas and BGE just laying back and letting this happen. We don't have the resources with the current electric power generation system to support all of the new electric run homes and cars that they are so desperately trying to shove down our throat. If they are so worried about the environment maybe they should consider the current state of affairs in the world today and the conflict currently under way in Europe which is in part due to the dependence on oil and gas from sources hostile to us. Take advantage of what we have here in this country and as we develop alternative sources (green sources) that are actually reliable, affordable and made in this country we can then begin the transition.
If the infrastructure where I currently reside was in place I'd much rather have gas heat over the luke warm air from a heat pump.

The last two power plants built in So MD are the St Charles Energy center on Billingsley Rd, and the Keys Energy Center on N Keys Rd in Brandywine.

Highly touted because they use clean burning natural gas instead of coal.

Now where's the head exploding emoji...

Dont forget Chalk Point, units 3 & 4 are oil NG burners along with oil fired GT1 turbine.
The other 6 turbines are oil or NG.

I believe only oil coal Units #1 and #2 are scheduled to be shut down....

Yep, found this:

"GenOn will continue to operate the approximately 1,600 megawatts of natural gas and oil-fired generating capacity located at the Chalk Point site indefinetly."

GenOn is the current owner and base in Houston, Texas.

The reality is the nutters dont seem to get that the two Calvert spliters provide over 40% of Marylands electric needs....
If they built another spliter plant with three reactors it would provide all of Marylands needs.

When we were stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB, near Dayton, OH, (81 - 82 and 91 - 94) they had a "neighborhood" size reactor that powered the base.

If I may ...

It's a Berkshire Hathaway, (Warren Buffet), (which now owns Cove Point LNG), power move so they can convert all our NatGas to liquid form and ship it to Asia and India. Money, which has no allegiance to any Nation, is way more important than the serfs need to heat their homes and cook.
