Depends on how much you use and how much you can afford at one time. I use ~600 gallons a year for heat, stove, fire pit and grill and own my 500 gallon tank. June/July I call around to see what the prices are and buy 5-600 gallons at one time.
There are first time customers and “leak checK” costs and discounts that have to be considered. This time of year, no one is cheap.

My last delivery several weeks back by Taylor Gas (into their tanks) was $2.95/gallon.
