this seems outrageous to me me but is anyone else out there paying $4.05 per gallon for Propane from a propane company????

I understand that the companies can offer you a better price if you use more propane BUT $4.05 cents per gallon seems a bit steep to me?

We are thinking about putting in a propane fireplace in the livingroom just to take the edge off the chill and not have as much SMECO. Those of you who already use propane do you think it's worth it?

Love mine - use it all the time. Propane fireplace in the living room, and a fan in the hallway can keep the entire house warm to hot.

It all depends on how much propane you use and what it's used for. Cooking and Hot Water rates are different than Heating rates. Some companies offer cheaper rates if you own the tank, like .10 under the normal rates. Some gas offer $2.40/gal on Heating rates on 75gal or more if you receive gas every month. If you own the tank that rate is $2.30. I've had ppl call and tell me that Suburban has offered them rates as low as $2.09, but little do they know when they sign a contract with them it's for 5 years!

Don't sign a contract. Call Taylor Gas in Lexington Park. Great family, and they do business the old fashioned way.

We have a gas fireplace we barely use. United Propane is charging $4.06 per gall to fill. I called and told them not to touch it unless I ordered some.
