"Canton High School student Jean Pierre Orlewicz, 17, of Plymouth, and Alexander James Letkemann, 18, of Westland, are charged with one count each of first-degree premeditated murder, felony murder and mutilation of a corpse.

They are accused in the planning, ambush and slaying of 26-year-old Daniel Sorenson last Wednesday in a Canton Township garage owned by Orlewicz's grandfather, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said."

as bad as this may be, I have to ask the question.
how many children did they keep from being molested, or how many women from being raped.

I skimmed that article and completely missed the severed head being found. :dork:

When I read it after the story broke, my first thought was that it was a vindictive act of lashing out towards him for the acts he committed. Maybe a person close to one of his victims couldn’t “deal” with his freedom in society and felt he needed to die. In that instance, I could possibly understand how one could commit such gruesome acts. (Gruesome acts based on emotions) Then I thought, maybe there was a sexual gratification of some sort in all of this. Was he gay and his homosexual lover scorned and killed him? My husband is CSI and out of all the murders he has investigated, homosexual murders are just beyond brutal.

NOW, well, we find out “they killed just to kill.” I hope they never see another day out in society, because that realm of thinking is frightening and evil.

But this may not be the end of the chain of events that stems from this. I may be opening Pandora’s box here ( yeah yeah pun included) but was he a random target from the sex offender registry? Should sex offenders be on a registry? Isn’t that placing them out in society as a target? How does this not violate their civil liberties? And I will say that behind each registered sex offender is a story. They may be registered as a "child" sex offender when they were in fact 18 and messed around with some girl who was 13 but told him she was 16-17. Should that person be targeted for life on a registry?

BTW, I think they found another sex offender in DC shot behind a school a few weeks back.

if thats the case then these two need to be put away for a long long time.
but, if it was because the guy was a molester, they should be slapped on the wrist, checked out for mental stability and let go.
I have no tolerance for molesters.

Sorenson's history as a registered sex offender in Michigan and Illinois and that he may have owned his attackers a small amount of money appears to have had nothing to do with his death, Worthy said.

I have been following this in the news since it was an unidentified body found burned to his identification as a registered sex offender. So, bcp, to answer your question, he was identified as 26-year-old Daniel Sorenson, a registered sex offender in prior articles. Alas, the title "Teens killed Sex Offender" blah blah blah

well, that being true, it still makes a difference in my admittedly demented mind if they killed him because he was a molester, or if they killed a molester for other reasons.

They'd have a hard time getting a jury that doesn't agree with you. If they were smart, they would have claimed it was because the guy was a sex offender. They'd probably be facing second degree charges now instead of first degree.

...look at it this way;

If you have a gruesome murder and you can add in sex crimes and money into the story, even though they have little, if anything, to do with the story, you run with it if writing headlines is your job.

What catches more readers;


Sex offender doesn't pay back debt; suffers gruesome murder

Or

Gruesome murder

You have in your mind an image of some 26 year old chasing and molesting 3-4 year old children. He could have very well been a sex offender, classified as a child sex offender for far different reasons, like the example I already gave.

But you know bcp, your mind set isn't far from unreasonable. I am just inserting some reality in there. Because, more often than not, it isn't what it appears to be at first glance.

No, they certainly don't. The way they killed him amounted to slaughter! If there's any remorse in them I sure am not seeing it. I am by no means defending a sex offender but these how could these two have butchered somebody like that? It's like something out of a horror movie. They didn't just fire one shot into him.
