PSA; drywall work...

...is...dusty. :jameo:

That is all.

No it's not.

Painting starts tomorrow! :larry:

Which means one step closer to the FREAKING drywall storm being over.

Then, the floor sanding storm starts Monday.

That is, in fact, all.

For now.

I HATE doing drywall work... hate it more than I hate anything in life. :ohwell:

That stuff doesn't just dust up the room you are working in but the rest of the house too. :boo: AND, it gets up your nose.

Here's a clue. Make sure the paint is dry before the sanding starts. You may even want to forego painting until after the sanding. I paint a lot. I know these things.

...I'm sorry. Did I miscommunicate? I don't do drywall work. :lmao:

I'm just living with someone else doing it. :jameo:

No miscommunication, I assumed, oops. :killingme

And if this benefits you in some way, say this is YOUR house and the finished product is yours, quite your biatching and get to dusting. :buttkick: Things could be worse, you could be doing the sanding yourself. The combination of doing the drywall work AND cleaning up afterwards, ugh :dead:

Yes. Any stuff that comes off the floors will stick to the paint if the paint isn't completely dried. I'd paint last after everything else is done. Even if you THINK the paint is completely dried, it might not be. Trust me on this one, Larry. I have had every paint disaster you can imagine.

..but the plan was to to paint so it didn't mess up the floors later! The plan!!!

It should be 2 full days before the floors start. Tell me that's good!? :jameo:

If the paint is dry, you should be good to go. I say plenty of fans to make SURE the paint is completely dry. Keep the windows open after you paint for extra drying and do the fan thing. You'll still have dust on the walls after they sand, but should be able to just wipe it off IF the paint has dried completely. If not, you'll have textured walls.

I'm probably going to paint my hallway this fall/winter (yes, I take a long time! very meticulous...), getting the rough spots out of the drywall, fixing popped nails, patching nail holes, replacing trim around attic fan, attic access and door/floor trim, priming, then the walls and ceiling. In a split level, it takes careful planning and execution of the ceiling above the stairway...

Wifee eager for hubby to start...soon... but all I have to ask is "what color?" and I just bought a couple of months of football Sundays! :lmao:

I painted my kitchen 3 times in 3 months. Now I'm gonna have a guy from work come in and re-drywall it so I can paint it again. :yay:

Your weekends are now dedicated to home improvement projects. There is no more football. Don't even think about watching a race.

Does that mean we're starting on the kitchen this weekend?

Well, I've had to re-paint a few times, too. Choosing the right color can be tough sometimes, and even look good in a sample but bad on the walls. I remember another thread on this. Though frustrating from the painter's point of view, it's still understandable in getting the right outcome.

But re-drywall? Not re-prime, then re-paint? I might not be understanding... ?
