Check it, and maybe transfer it to a new container.

I had (2) 3-gal containers of peanut oil in the basement with the rest of my prepping stuff. It's been there for quite a few years. Giving it to a friend, so brought them up from the basement and left them by the back door. Walked past them his morning, slipped and nearly hard landed. Thought it was just my socks on a clean floor. Picked them up to put them in the truck and realized one, or both, were leaking. A lot. By this time I had tracked it everywhere. Just spent the past 2 hours cleaning up the mess. Fortunately, Foaming Windex does a great cleanup.

Those plastic containers don't last forever. Had some gallon water jugs do the same thing a few years ago.

Doesn't peanut oil go rancid after a year or so? My son in law got me several 3 gallon containers a few years ago when Walmart was trying to get rid of it after Easter and then my world got turned outside down. I didn't go fishing enough to use it up. I thought it was a loss.

As long as it's well sealed (original factory seal), should be ok. This stuff was well over 5 years but was fine.
Good to know because I think he still has 2 or 3 3 gallon containers for me.
