All lanes of the Beltway will be closing overnight over the weekend.
Crews will put the final steel beams in place to support the second half of the new Maryland 210 overpass near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
The Beltway will close at 11 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday. On Saturday night, the Beltway will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. Sunday.
Those heading from Virginia on northbound Interstate 95 will see signs urging drivers to get on the Inner Loop and cross the Potomac River via the American Legion Bridge.
Southbound drivers can also use the American Legion Bridge route, or interstate traffic bypassing Washington can use Route 301 through southern Maryland.
Other detour signs will be posted, but motorists are urged to avoid the area, if possible.
