Psalm 67[a]For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song.
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us—(b)
2 so that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations.
3 May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples with equity
and guide the nations of the earth.
5 May the peoples praise you, God;
may all the peoples praise you.
6 The land yields its harvest;
God, our God, blesses us.
7 May God bless us still,
so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.

a. Psalm 67:1 In Hebrew texts 67:1-7 is numbered 67:2-8.
b. Psalm 67:1 The Hebrew has Selah (a word of uncertain meaning) here and at the end of verse 4.

Oh boy.... I do hate poetry... and I do hate long winded commentaries.... and poetry really does bring out the long windedness.....

Ok this is from bible-studys.org.

This national psalm of thanksgiving expresses the gratefulness of the people to God and their confidence in His continued blessings. It begins with a blessing by the priest (verse 1), and a reflection of the Aaronic benediction (in Numbers 6:24-26). Then there is a call to all peoples to praise God (verses 2-5). Finally, there is an expression of trust in God’s continued blessings (verses 6-7). The point of the psalm seems to be that God’s blessing on Israel is only a harbinger of divine blessings for the entire world. This universal outlook is revealed not only by the explicit statement of the final verse, but by the exclusive preference of the general word for God, Elohim (Creator God), to the complete exclusion of the personal name of Israel’s God, Yahweh.
Some songs are just songs.... and this one seems to be just a song.... but then again.... maybe David was being prophetic.... maybe the people today... half way around the world can be blessed.... even though they are not following the law.... because they don't know it.... because they were lied to.... because the word got distorted by rotten preachers, priests, leaders, and teachers.

I read somewhere.... in one of those long winded commentaries..... we expect a lot from God.... we misbehave.... disrespect.... and then ask for forgiveness.... then once he has forgiven us.... we have the nerve to ask for an ice cream cone... and while we're licking it... we forget to thank Him. This is that thanks... and we don't even bother to read it anymore.
