It is a story about a girl. While at the funeral of her mother, she met a man whom she did not know. She thought he was amazing, her dream guy, and she fell in love with him but never asked for his number and could not find him after the funeral.

A few days later the girl killed her sister.

Question:

What was her motive in killing her sister?

Give this some thought before you scroll down

Answer:

She was hoping that the guy would appear at the sister's funeral.

If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test that a famous American psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took this test and answered it correctly.

If you didn't answer correctly, good for you.

If you DID answer correctly, please let us know so we can avoid you like the plague.

OK...

...but is this true, the use of the test???

It was chilling, reading the answer as the cold hearted logic became apparent.

Is this for real???

If so, why is it in the joke section???

It was sent via email to me as part of a collection of jokes and stuff. I put it in here because I couldn't verify it was actually used by said "famous American psychologist."

We should find out...

...I mean, I'm sitting there reading it...

"Ok, mom, kill sister, guy, no phone number..." thinking the clue is right in front of my face and...BAM.

It's animal logic. If you got something to eat at the watering hole, you'll probably go back.

Yikes!

Happy to say the 'right' answer never crossed my mind.

You always read how cops say criminals are basically predators, some more clever than others but to actually think that way...

....
Honestly I thought that was the answer......LOL....but seriously...only because it was in the joke thread..........I"m not a serial killer; promise.....but this did remind me of an ethical quiz I heard back in the day:

This was given as a question on a job application....

what would your answer be and would YOU have gotten the job?

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading...

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants!) had no trouble coming up with his answer. He simply answered: "I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."

However, the correct answer is to run the old lady over and put her out of her misery, have sex with the perfect partner against the bus stop, then drive off with the old friend for some beers.

How about:

1. Get on your cell phone and call the local escort agency to send a macho stud boy toy to pick up the old lady, to give her mind-blowing pleasure during her last day on earth.

2. Do a similar favor for your old friend (depending on the gender).

3. Then drive off with your perfect partner.

This isn't helping...

(from Snopes)

The assumption that all sociopaths approach problems with a "Whom can I kill to solve this" mentality (and that sociopaths believe everyone else thinks this way as well) is a erroneous assumption based upon a false stereotype. Most sociopaths would find this question as illogical as the rest of us and ponder a whole range of other possibilities (e.g., why didn't the girl strike up a conversation with the man at the funeral, examine the condolence book afterwards, or ask her sister about him?); rather just than blurting out the purported "typical" response, many of them would provide answers just as mainstream as those offered by us "normal" folks (e.g., one sister thought the other was involved with the mystery man and killed her sibling over an imagined romantic rivalry).

"Normal" folks kill their sister over imagined romantic rivaries invloving a person they didn't even see fit to get a phone number from?

This is making things worse here.

And then...

...Snopes offers more comfort...

A psychopath might think to murder her sister after their mother's death, but the motivation would more likely be one of inheritance. "Why settle for half an estate when only one person stands between me and all of it?" would be a more prevalent line of thought.

One day, you have nothing of you mothers, all is fine. The next day you are killing your sister so you can have ALL of your mothers stuff??? MORE prevalent line of thought???

That's why I don't believe in all the psychobabble stuff of psychiatrists, psychologists, and the like. After killing all the lawyers, they should be the next in line.

Yeah, what Snopes uses to debunk that "test" sounds almost as scary as the test itself. In the site's defense, I think that may have been the point.

Look at the site's Glurge section, which talks about the darker side of those syrupy sweet e-mail tales. Like the one about the boy who thought his parents wanted him to die so his sister could get one of his kidneys. Do you think Snopes looks too hard for the dark side?
