Publisher/Pagemaker clones?

I need to make a booklet, but really don't want to buy Pagemaker ($600) or Publisher ($150) for this one-time project.

Anyone know of decent freeware or shareware out there?

I'm trying to use Microsoft Word but being that I don't know how many pages it's going to be, figuring out how to print the pages in the right order is a pain. They have a booklet template, but it's only for if you want a landscape oriented paper, while I'm trying to get something folded down the length of the paper (portrait oriented).

But wait, there's more...
Can you change the paper size/format (i.e., portrait vs. landscape) in the page options?

I can't really recommend any "clones". I have pagemaker and I love it and swear by it. I've used Quark as well, and it's similiar, but having used pagemaker for 12 years, I'm a devotee. But if you've never used it, it takes some getting used to; it's more for serious desktop publishing projects (e.g., newspapers), but it would work for your project. :yay:

What do you mean in the right order? Will you be sending this off to a printing company or will you be doing this on your own printer? The reason word is doing it in landscape is because a booklet is 5.5X8 and you would be folding the papers in half.

Scribus is great and free but is for Linux.
