'Pull the trigger' on Rumsfeld

If you're against the war, against violence, against the killing - why not just beat it out of the guy? Go to his house, trash his home.

Well a newspaper in St. Petersburg took it one further. An ad taken out by the St Petersburg Democratic Club says, take him out and shoot him.

Remember, it's us Republicans who are "mean-spirited"!

Here's the link:

My favorite part was this -

"When asked if the ad was a challenge to inflict violence on Rumsfeld, McCall explained: "'Pull the trigger' means let Rumsfeld know where we stand, not to shoot him!" "

How silly of us! You're so angry, you just want to EXPLAIN THINGS to him.

How stupid do they think we are?

I thought it was against the law to encourage people to assasinate a public official. The newspaper should be shut down for taking the ad in the first place and the people that placed the ad should be arrested for making death threats.

What is this country coming to where some nutball group can just do this? Where they can say "go kill Donald Rumsfeld"? Where they can go to someone's house (Karl Rove) and harrass him?

I hope like hell the Democrats lose not only the Presidency, but every seat in Congress. I hate those freaks and it disturbs me that they have a say in government. They should all be locked up.

"We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say 'This is one of our bad days,' and pull the trigger," the ad reads.
When asked if the ad was a challenge to inflict violence on Rumsfeld, McCall explained: "'Pull the trigger' means let Rumsfeld know where we stand, not to shoot him!"
So it should have read "We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say 'This is one of our bad days,' and let Rumsfeld know where we stand."

Something tells me that's not what they meant. :liar:

:bubble: Sounds to me like the headlights shined on them and they got caught with their pants down around their ankles!:blushing:

To place a newspaper ad that advocates taking out a public official by "pulling the trigger" is not only mean-spirited, it's downright criminal!!!

(...and they call right-wingers "fanatics"??? Jeez!)

I don't see that as any different from Michael Savage wishing AIDS and death on a gay caller to his show. Fanaticism knows no political affiliation.

Now you're comparing apples and oranges. Michael Savage had a long history of bigotry and looniness. MSNBC only hired him so they could say they had a "conservative" on the payroll. Couldn't get a sane conservative, oh no. They went out and found the most bombastic, ugly, nasty piece of crap they could find so they could point a finger at him and smirk, "See? That's a Republican!"

It's just a smidge different than a newspaper taking an ad calling for the death of a public official, don't you think?

I see your point. Wow. I didn't know all that about Savage. I thought he was no different from Limbaugh and O'Reilly and Hannity and Ingraham.

Savage makes Rush and Hannity look like Ted Kennedy.

But there's one MORE difference. This is from a Democratic organization with is connected to Kerry's campaign (well, however loosely). It's probably a good idea if Kerry repudiates this kind of thing. Typically, he and a few others in this campaign have NOT, because they can reap the benefits of it and still claim they didn't approve of it.

But this kind of thing has happened before. Anyone remember Alec Baldwin, suggesting we all go to Washington, stone Henry Hyde, and his family, and their wives, and their children? He later claims he was *joking*, but most people were NOT laughing. And can you ***IMAGINE*** the outrage had a conservative celebrity suggested we do the same to the Clintons?

My meager experience has been that liberals are more likely to resort to violence when they are angry enough. AND more likely to justify it.
