Eichelberger and another guy who had his Purple Heart revoked were on Hardball the other night. Neither of them seem particularly upset that this has happened - they're more sorry about the military giving them a medal they didn't deserve in the first place.

You cannot dumb-down the Purple Heart by giving to just any ol' body. It's a disservice to all the military personnel who were injured in true combat operations.

I concur. I never earned (or got) one. Those who have earned them also have my deepest respect.

This is especially true this year following the Swift Boat Veterans' 'outing' of flip-flop and his three PHs.

The Marines who received these decorations erroneously understand that they would have no credibility with their own units once it came out they had been in a truck accident or (worse yet) shot themselves in the leg.

I agree but these guys were in a foxhole and got run over by a tank. Whew!! They are good guys!!
