Pursuit of Happiness

I enjoyed it. It's clichéd, but well-made and, as RoseRed said, uplifting. Will Smith gave a great performance, maybe his best ever.

I was disappointed with the ending. I thought it should have been him & his son, walking up the steps to his big, beautiful new home. Especially after all the stuff he went through to get there...and they showed all that. I think it would have been the least they could have done. the ending really sucked.
IMHO

It's one of those "good to watch once" movies...

But nothing blows up, there are no car chase scenes, and there's very little action.

A problem with this movie, which is good, is this simple fact: Chris Gardner's story isn't cinematic. It's certainly inspiring, but ultimately it is just the story of a 'loser' becoming a 'winner' by earning $$$ and sneaking into a more exclusive club. The life of Oskar Schindler called out to be made into a movie (Schindler's List), as did the life of Howard Hughes (The Aviator) and, on a more contemporary note, Jeffrey Wigand (The Insider).

Gardner's story is nice, but not cinematic or particuarly interesting... so no matter how good Will Smith's acting is or how realistic the cinematography is, there is a ceiling on this film's quality.
