Russian president Vladimir Putin said he will not run for a third presidential term.
Speaking on Ukrainian television ahead of presidential elections there, he said that “the Russian constitution allows two consecutive presidential terms. I am going to be guided by this principle.”
“I believe that stability is the top priority in many countries, at least, it is in Russia. Stability can be secured only by adhering to laws. Among these laws, there is one that lays the foundation for all others. It is the constitution, the basic law of the country,” Putin said.

This is definitely good news. I was beginning to question Putin's motives when he starting appointing regional reps instead of electing them. I still think that move was a bad one, but I'm glad that he's going to step down and let the people decide where they want their country to go.
