I know this is probably stupid to post here, but my daughter has this favorite doll and the hair got all matted up. My daughter is brushing it and brushing it and it's not helping I have actually put conditioner in it and still didn't help. In lieu of Shaving the dolls head which my daughter wont go for, does anyone know what I can do.

HELP

There's nothing you can really do. Other than buy a new one. That hair is made of of the worst crap. Once knotted its pretty much done.

I agree with other poster, buy a new one. Make up this elaborate story about the special doll hairdresser or whatever and 'send it away' for a few days then have it come back all new --obviously replacing it with the new doll maybe putting a hairdresser cape thingy on her so she looks like she just got back from the salon.

Maybe you could just explain to your daughter that there is nothing you can do to fix the hair. She could either live with the doll the way it is, have the hair cut off, or get a new doll. Just an idea.

If you were a mother, you would understand.

Jlfree, does it bother your daughter that the hair is all matted, or just you? My daughter had this terrible doll that looked like...I dunno, scary. But she loved it even though it was the worst doll ever.

Take the doll to the doll-baby doctor or hairdresser (the trash can) and buy her another one and say she has been "fixed"

It was bothering her she couldn't do anything with it. I like the hairdresser Idea I will have to remember that next time. But I googled it online and used Fabric Softner and kept combing it while it was in the hair. Got all the tangles out and looks brand new. So for anyone else just so you know Fabric Softner. Also I went and got spray detangler so we could use that every now and then.

Some dolls, such as American Girl, have programs where you send the doll to a dolly hospital, they fix her up and send her back good as new.

When my dd was 4 she got an American Girl doll from my mom (who couldn't wait til she was a good age for it because my dd has the same name as one of the American Girls) and the same day she got the doll, its hair was completely in knots and tangles. :faint: I spent hours combing it out and working on every little knot. It never looked the same as the cute little braids that it came with, but better than the $40 AG wants to fix her hair for you. I could have killed my dd, though. I thought she could have at least made it through 1 day with the doll!!! It's now 7 years later and she still has that doll and still plays with it.

Thanks for the info, I have a little girl who loves her dolls. I'll probably need to know this at some point.

sounds funny but peanut butter (similiar to fabric softener) it works for gum it might be oily enough to work it out

thought about that, but I wasn't to sure also she takes it to school for nap time and they aren't allowed to take peanut butter due to a little boys allergy. My luck some would of been left on it somewhere.

Order a doll wig - Cut all the old hair off, buy some super glue/tacky glue and presto.. you have a fixed baby doll!
