Question about Mervell Dean Road

I see many drivers turning right from northbound Mervell Dean Road near Hyperspace onto Route 235, then cutting sharply across two lanes to make the left turn onto southbound Route 245 toward Leonardtown.

This seems unnecessarily hazardous for both them and the other drivers. Wouldn't it be easier for them to make a right onto Old Three Notch Road, which runs behind HyperSpace and the Burchmart, and make a left onto Sotterley Road? I have done that a couple of times.

The corner at the Hole in the Wall can be hazardous at times too.

Ha anyone else noticed that the small stretch of old Three Notch Road back there is rougher and a wagon trail?

I imagine it would be worst at night, if it's anything like Route 5 past the Green Door in Park Hall with parked cars lining the road.

Bypassing the light @ Sotterly Rd & 235

That's what I thought, too, except that they're still at the mercy of the green left-turn arrow.

The cars parked at the bar during the day belong to the workers at Winslow's. Afternoon traffic coming home is heavy on Sotterley, so getting out and across to the light is a PITA.

Usually I see the cars cutting across in the morning, not so much in the afternoon, so I thought these might be people who work in Leonardtown.

Your day is that slow that you are worried about the way people drive home on a road you know next to nothing about? Good lord can I have your job?

You can't be serious? I go this way all the time towards Leonardtown - in fact, it's usually the only way I go there. "Cutting sharply" across traffic means I change ONE lane over (since I obviously have to enter ONE lane just to get into the roadway) over a stretch of road that's what, several hundred yards? And I do the same on the return trip. I can hardly call this hazardous. I routinely drive much more hazardous passages, and I'm not about to go all around Grandma's barn to avoid making the kind of merge a 16-year-old should be able to navigate without thinking.

I believe the corner right there is alot more dangerous than where mervell dean brings out at, by 235.
