Last time I got one they slapped a sticker on that said next one due (date/mileage). Well the date is here but I'm not anywhere near the mileage. So which do I go by?
What kind of driving are you doing now? Long trips regularly? Or lots of short couple mile trips? If it's the short trips, change the oil sooner than the mileage sticker. Short drives contaminate the oil faster and it doesn't get hot enough often enough to burn off the moisture, fuel, etc....
first oil change at 10,000 miles.
Mostly in town, short couple miles. I filled up with gas on Feb 1 and still have half a tank. That type of driving.![]()
With Toyota, the first five maintenances are covered by Toyota. They are every 6 months or 5,000 miles which ever comes first but there is a time limit. My recently purchased 2024 Rav4 is expected to get it's first oil change at 10,000 miles. It is 3 or 4 months old and at best, I think I've put 2000 miles on it.
Dinosaur oil 3500 or 6 months which ever comes firstLast time I got one they slapped a sticker on that said next one due (date/mileage). Well the date is here but I'm not anywhere near the mileage. So which do I go by?
Old days yes. Even today’s oils are engineered better and last longer you are still at the peril of your oil filter. Oil filters will not last as long as the oil.Old data or methods ....
3 months or 3000 miles was because the additives evaporated from the oil from sitting [ does not really make sense ]
@Sneakers is probably the closest if you are not getting the engine good and hot to burn off contaminants you probably need to change sooner
This was interesting ...
