I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the dog that was in the paper...he is a rottie and was left at the calvert county shelter in a cage. They said they were going to put him down. please help me if you know anything about him. I am very interested in him.

Thanks,
~Jen~

I talked to the president of CAWL today and she said he was still at the shelter...hopefully you have changed that :yay:

How you like me now?
If they are going to put him down can you find an animal rescue foundation to sponsor him for adoption?

Why is he being put down is it because of his size? We got a bullmastif from the shelter, they gave us a big fight over him and said that he had to be put down because of his size, then we found an animal rescue and they had the power to save him and we were able to get him.

He is a great and loveable dog and I am thankful they did not get their way.

I think the only real concerns they had was not knowing his history or possible medical problems.

I know they'll put a dog down if they're "not adoptable", that could range from an illness of some sort to their behavior.

Sadly, I saw quite a few "not adoptable" signs on certain cages when I went to the shelter 3 times a week last year looking for my dog.

When I adopted mine a few months ago I had asked WHY this dog hadn't been adopted. Of course they said they knew nothing of her background and that she was a stray. She is 6 year old and alot of people want pups and she WAS very shy. The girl that worked at the Shelter said she had been there for almost 60 days and if NOT adopted by the end of that time then they would euthanize her! I wanted to :smack: someone! I adopted her and she's about the BEST dog I've ever had! :smooch: I love my pooch! :cartwheel

When my dad adopted his dog (the one I mentioned earlier), it was the dogs last day to be adopted before they euthanized him.

One thing that could have affected his "adoptability" is Rotties are on the list of dangerous breeds used by insurance companies to determine if you are insurable. My Rottie mix is officially "just a mutt" according to my insurance agent else I couldn't have gotten my house insured. :ohwell:
