Quran 12: In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1. Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the Verses of the Clear Book.
2. We have revealed it an Arabic Quran, so that you may understand.
3. We narrate to you the most accurate history, by revealing to you this Quran. Although, prior to it, you were of the unaware.
4. When Joseph said to his father, “O my father, I saw eleven planets, and the sun, and the moon; I saw them bowing down to me.”
5. He said, “O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they plot and scheme against you. Satan is man's sworn enemy.
6. And thus your Lord will choose you, and will teach you the interpretation of events, and will complete His blessing upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He has completed it before upon your forefathers Abraham and Isaac. Your Lord is Knowing and Wise.

This is the commentary.

It is called the best narrative because it is the best picture of the dealing of the Quraish with the Prophet, and the Prophet’s dealing with them. It was in the very words of Joseph to his brothers — no reproof be against you this day — that the Holy Prophet forgave the people of Makkah all the atrocities they had committed against him, atrocities which had but one end in view — the extirpation of Islåm and the destruction of the Prophet and his followers.
The Prophet’s “unawareness” relates to his own future, of which this chapter gives a clear indication in the incidents of Joseph’s life, viz. that he was to be expelled from his home as Joseph was expelled, but that his countrymen would ultimately come to him in submisssion, asking pardon for their faults, as Joseph’s brothers had done. But “unawareness” here may also refer to all those things that are related in the Qur’ån, because the Prophet knew nothing of them before revelation.
Compare Gen. 37:9: “And, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me”.

So this part is about Joseph, Jacob's son. In Genesis 37 of the Bible..... Joseph told his father than he had a dream. All his brothers were bowing to him in the dream. Jacob, his father, told him to keep that to himself. If his brothers heard about it... they wouldn't like it.

I don't know if it was the "Coat of Many Colors" that Jacob passed to his son or if it was just Joseph's way.... but his brothers found out about the dream. They put him in a big hole to die..... they took his fancy coat and smeared it with blood so they could tell Jacob he was dead.... and they were going to leave him in that hole to die.... but an merchant came along and they decided it might be better to sell him off. So.... brother Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers.....

Life has a way of changing. Joseph was a servant.... I think he was even accused of a rape that he never even considered. Then.... Joseph became a financial advisor for the Pharaoh. And soon.... Joseph was in charge of the finances of all of Egypt! Wow.....

As you recall, from the Bible.... There was an awful draught and Joseph's family was starving. Jacob sent his sons, all but his youngest, to Egypt to buy food. When they got there.... Joseph was the one they had to buy from. They thought he was dead.... but now, they had to bow to him.

The whole time I was typing this..... Dolly Parton has been singing in my brain..... yep.... this chapter is about Joseph.... coat of many colors Joseph.

See we have more in common than I ever dreamed..... we worship the same God.... and we have the same characters.... only I'm not sure the Muslims will discuss the "coat".

Joseph!
