Quran 16:90. God commands justice, and goodness, and generosity towards relatives. And He forbids immorality, and injustice, and oppression. He advises you, so that you may take heed.
91. Fulfill God’s covenant when you make a covenant, and do not break your oaths after ratifying them. You have made God your guarantor, and God knows what you do.
92. And do not be like her who unravels her yarn, breaking it into pieces, after she has spun it strongly. Nor use your oaths as means of deception among you, because one community is more prosperous than another. God is testing you thereby. On the Day of Resurrection, He will make clear to you everything you had disputed about.
93. Had God willed, He would have made you one congregation, but He leaves astray whom He wills, and He guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
94. And do not use your oaths to deceive one another, so that a foot may not slip after being firm, and you taste misery because you hindered from God’s path, and incur a terrible torment.
95. And do not exchange God’s covenant for a small price. What is with God is better for you, if you only knew.
96. What you have runs out, but what is with God remains. We will reward those who are patient according to the best of their deeds.
97. Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while being a believer, We will grant him a good life—and We will reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
98. When you read the Quran, seek refuge with God from Satan the outcast.
99. He has no authority over those who believe and trust in their Lord.
100. His authority is only over those who follow him, and those who associate others with Him.

And the commentary here.... it goes with these verses.

This verse deals comprehensively with the different degrees of goodness and evil. The lowest form of goodness is that which is called ‘adl (justice) or returning good for good, and includes not only justice proper, but also the fulfilment of all duties and obligations, as they all more or less take the form of doing good for good. A higher degree of goodness is, however, that which is called iƒsån, or goodness proper. It is the doing of good in cases where man has received no benefit. The last stage of goodness is that in which a man’s nature is so inclined to good that he has not to make an effort for doing good; he does good to all people as an ordinary man does good to his own kindred. In fact, he looks upon the whole of humanity as his kindred. Similarly, this verse deals with the three degrees of evil, from the merest indecency to the wrongful conduct which violates the rights of individuals and nations. Faƒshå’ or indecency is that which is evil in itself, though it may not affect the rights of others, anything not agreeable with truth; munkar, what is disapproved, is that which affects the rights of other individuals; and baghy, exceeding the bounds or acting tyrannically, is oppression or rebellion affecting the rights of large numbers, nations or States.
A man who accepts the truth but does not act according to it is likened to a woman who first spins her yarn and then unravels it. This is sheer madness, but this is the very thing of which most people are guilty. They are united by certain ties, but when this union brings about strength, they destroy it with their own hands. It was unity which made the Muslims rise to great power, but that unity today lies in ruins, and the strong community of Islåm is like the unravelled yarn of a crazy spinner.
Faithfulness to covenants is here stressed and, from the covenant with God, the subject is diverted to the covenants between man and man. Attention is drawn in the words, you make your oaths to be means of deceit between you, to the conditions generally prevailing in the world, to the breach of covenants between nations, which is ruining the stability of human society.
The Qur’ån here affords another reply to the ignorant statement made in certain quarters that according to Islåm women have no soul. The promise is twofold: the doers of good, both men and women, are made to lead a good life in this world and will have a reward in the Hereafter.

Well well well.... I feel slapped around a bit by the verses and the commentary.

First of all ..... I am reading there is a belief among different people who say that women have no soul! Oh come on.... women have no soul.... that's a flat out lie. On top of that... when I first started reading the Quran.... I was delighted to learn that women in Islam have higher status than women in the Jewish tradition. Women in the Bible had to have a special exception to own land.... like two sisters, who's father, brothers, and husbands all died in battle.... then the Jewish women could have land.... oh and if a husband died and he had a brother or a male cousin..... then that brother or male cousin becomes the husband to the women whether she likes it or not.... in Islam... the woman gets to decide for herself. Saying a woman has no soul is just wrong..... That's a Jewish tradition not an Islamic tradition.

So.... contrary to some moronic thinking that opposes the Quran.... Women Have Souls.

I crochet.... just yesterday I was on facebook chatting with other women who crochet. One woman was asking about pulling the yarn out and starting over... it's called frogging.... I don't know why but it is. Anyway.... I commented that hubby noted once that If I didn't have to pull the yarn out at least once during a project... I wasn't happy with the project when it was done. Then I woke up this morning to read about frogging in the Quran!

We all make mistakes. To err is human.... so the saying goes. While working on a project.... I will stop every now and then to check for errors. If I drop a stitch.... it will screw up the whole project..... If I pick up a stitch.... it will screw up the whole project.... so I have to go back and correct my mistake.

We all make mistakes.... to err is human. God know when we muck up a project. He also know why and what we did when we realized our mistake. If I only have to frog back a few stitches.... I'm watching my work.... if I have to pull the whole project out.... well either I wasn't paying attention or I didn't care if there was a dropped or added stitch. I have an afghan that I made that has an error I made on the second row..... yep it was when I was turning to start the second row.... I picked up an extra stitch.... and I didn't notice it until the end.... and I left it there.... I know it's there... I see it every time I pull that beautiful afghan around me.... but no one else knew I made that mistake.... until this morning..... except God that is. God knows every error I make.

I am reminded.... by the way.... that one of the plagues God put on Egypt when Moses was saying "Let my people go".... was the plague of frogs.

Everyone makes mistakes..... but frogging is easier if we check for mistakes as we go and correct them when we find them.

However.... I see no reason to frog if there is no error. According to these verses... the same people who are saying women have no souls are probably the same people frogging to make the project fit their own vision..... and leave the pattern behind. They change the project.... adding a stitch or dropping a stitch... to fit their needs.

These verses say some people were adding to or taking away from the Quran to fit their purpose..... oh we never see anyone of that good Christian faith doing that.... yeah right. If someone is twisting the Bible or the Quran to fit their own personal agenda..... they need to be frogged. God knows who needs frogging.

It's about frogging.... correcting errors.....
