Quran 19:16. And mention in the Scripture Mary, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern location.
17. She screened herself away from them, and We sent to her Our spirit, and He appeared to her as an immaculate human.
18. She said, “I take refuge from you in the Most Merciful, should you be righteous.”
19. He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure son.”
20. She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, and I was never unchaste?”
21. He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for humanity, and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'“
22. So she carried him, and secluded herself with him in a remote place.
23. The labor-pains came upon her, by the trunk of a palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.”
24. Whereupon he called her from beneath her: “Do not worry; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.
25. And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, and it will drop ripe dates by you.”
26. “So eat, and drink, and be consoled. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to any human today.'“
I had to split the verses because the commentary is so long. This shows that it was in a vision that the spirit came, and the conversation that follows also took place in a vision. The word tamaththala (“it appeared”) used here lends support to this, for the word signifies assuming the likeness of another thing, and this happens only in a vision. Further the spirit or angel of God appears to His chosen ones only in a vision, and angels are not seen by the physical eye.
The words I will give thee a pure boy are the words of the message. The Spirit, in fact, only conveyed the Divine message, as it always does. Every word of the Holy Qur’ån is the word of God, but every word was delivered to the Prophet by the angel.
Jesus was a sign to men, in the sense that he was made a prophet, and every prophet is a sign, because the Divine revelation which is granted to him affords a clear proof of the existence of the Divine Being. Or, he was a sign to the Israelites in particular, because with him prophethood came to an end among the Israelites.
She conceived him in the ordinary way in which women conceive children; see 3:44a.
This shows that Mary gave birth to Jesus while on a journey; hence the reference to water and food in vv. 24 and 25, such as one can only find in a journey. That she was going to a distant place is shown by v. 22. She may have had recourse to the trunk of a palm-tree to find a support in the throes of childbirth.
Mary gave birth to Jesus under the ordinary circumstances which women experience in giving birth to children. The throes of childbirth were too severe for her to bear, and hence she gave utterance to such words. The reference to the throes of childbirth clearly shows that an ordinary human child was coming into the world. Or, there may be a reference to Gen. 3:16, in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children.
In the Bible.... Mary is visited by an angel. Luke, who was a doctor, opened his Gospel with that news. [Luke 1:26-38]. Gabriel was the angel who talked to Mary. It's the same in the Bible. Mary could not understand what was happening to her because it had never happened to a human before. God used her womb. God had every right to use her womb.... he created it from a thought. Now I see here that the Muslim tradition says that Jesus couldn't have been God... because Mary went through the pain of childbirth. I say.... the fact that Mary went through child birth means Jesus came to earth as a human. Some people want me to believe God couldn't turn Himself into human form in a womb and have Himself delivered as a human so He could experience "temptation" and show humans how to handle it.
People miss this point all the time.... we are all going to be judged. Every single human who ever drew a breath is going to stand in front of God one day. When they do.... if they can honestly say "you don't understand...I'm human.... you don't know what it's like to be human and face temptation... so how can you judge me"...
God would have to agree. So He sent Himself as His Son.... which means something totally different considering this is God I'm talking about.
Humans have figured out how too take the heart out of a pig an put it in a human so it can take the place of a human heart. If humans can do that.... why couldn't God put His seed in a human womb?
God doesn't have to fight human limitations. He created human limitations. God became human so He would have first hand knowledge of what humans deal with.
This morning... I have to say.... Muslims, Jewish, and Christians all have the same problem. They keep putting God in a box... demanding that He follow Human rules and conditions.
Check out Job 38:2-12 and then tell me again how God couldn't become human in Mary's womb.
Yep.... Mary had to give birth to God.... God had to become human in order to really understand us.
God had to be a human.... because He's Divine. He knows every argument or excuse humans are going to come up with.... because He can see the future. He's already heard our arguments and excuses. God created the womb. He knew it was going to hurt Mary to give birth to Him. He sent Gabriel to explain it before she had her first bit of nausea.
Yep.... Mary was human.
