Quran 21:30. Do the disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were one mass, and We tore them apart? And We made from water every living thing. Will they not believe?
31. And We placed on earth stabilizers, lest it sways with them, and We placed therein signposts and passages, that they may be guided.
32. And We made the sky a protected ceiling; yet they turn away from its wonders.
33. It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; each floating in an orbit.
34. We did not grant immortality to any human being before you. Should you die, are they then the immortal?
35. Every soul will taste death. We burden you with adversity and prosperity—a test. And to Us you will be returned.
36. When those who disbelieve see you, they treat you only with ridicule: “Is this the one who mentions your gods?” And they reject the mention of the Merciful.
37. The human being was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not seek to rush Me.
38. And they say, “When will this promise come true, if you are truthful?”
39. If those who disbelieve only knew, when they cannot keep the fire off their faces and off their backs, and they will not be helped.
40. In fact, it will come upon them suddenly, and bewilder them. They will not be able to repel it, and they will not be reprieved.
41. Messengers before you were also ridiculed, but those who jeered were surrounded by what they had ridiculed.
Here's the commentary this morning.
The heavens and the earth may stand here for the whole universe, or for the solar system in particular, which has developed out of a nebular mass, and the fatq or separation may refer to the starry creation or to the throwing off of the planets of the solar system, and the great symmetry of its arrangement and the motions of the various bodies. There is a reference to the orbits of the various planets further on in v. 33. But there may also be a deeper allusion in the closing up of the heavens and the earth to the cessation of Divine revelation for a time before the advent of the Holy Prophet, which was marked by the absence of a prophet in the world for six hundred years and the prevalence of corruption all over the world. The opening up of the heavens and the earth would in this case signify the coming of revelation, which brought life to the world. In physical nature too, rain opens up the earth.
While this statement reveals a remarkable truth in the physical world, a truth which science has established only recently, and which was not known to the world generally at the time of the Prophet, viz., that water is the source of all life, it draws attention to the equally remarkable spiritual truth that it is only by Divine revelation, which is again and again compared with water in the Holy Qur’ån, that life is given to a world otherwise dead in sin and corruption.
Arabia had its spiritualists, the astrologers and the diviners who pretended to have access to the secrets of heaven. They are told that they cannot have any such access. Or, the meaning is that revelation from God (called here heaven) is guarded against all attacks.
They were afflicted with small evils, and the removal of these again brought to them a turn of good events. All this was by way of trial; the greater punishment, which was to bring about the final overthrow of their power, was yet in store for them.
The Arabs, being an idolatrous people, would not, like the Christians, call Allåh by the name al-Ra√mån; hence the Beneficent God is here spoken of in contrast with the idols.
So prominent is the characteristic of haste in man that he may be said to have been created, as it were, of haste. The expression is explained by what follows: Soon will I show you My signs, so ask Me not to hasten them.
The particular sign which they again and again demanded was that a destructive punishment like that which overtook former people should overtake them
Isn't it interesting.... these people were not scientists.... but they figured out Hydrogen and Oxygen were necessary for the creations of humans. Isn't it interesting they figured that out without sending a rocket to Mars. Primordial Ooze..... mud.... we came out of the dirt.... like a seed! We came out of the water.... like a Snakehead Fish!Isn't it interesting.... these people were not scientists... but they figured out the mystery of the universe! God is God and He used dirt to create humans!
They may have figured out that Mary was not a goddess. Well maybe Joseph thought she was his goddess.... but Mary was not married to God.... or Gabriel.... or anyone.... she was a virgin... a creation of God's.... that God used to bring His only Begotten Son to humanity. They figured it out... but the good Christians standing at the Mary Statue venue.... will spit in your eye for ruining his business. Trinkets.... shiny baubles.... all in the shape of the Madonna..... to make money for the vender. Might as well be a cabbage patch doll.... but definitely not a goddess.... and the Arabs figured it out.
Verse 37 says God created us with haste.... that doesn't mean He put man together "real quick" because He had other more pressing needs. God wasn't in a hurry when He created Adam. He created "haste" and allowed Adam to experience it.... testing Adam. Humans know life on earth is terminal.... so they are tempted by time!
