Quran 25:10. Blessed is He who, if He wills, can provide you with better than that—gardens beneath which rivers flow—and He will give you palaces.
11. In fact, they have denied the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a Blaze.
12. When it sees them from a distant place, they will hear it raging and roaring.
13. And when they are thrown into it, into a tight place, shackled, they will plead there for death.
14. “Do not plead for one death today, but plead for a great many deaths.”
15. Say, “Is this better, or the Garden of Eternity promised to the righteous? It is for them a reward and a destination.
16. They will have therein whatever they desire, forever. That is upon your Lord a binding promise.
17. On the Day when He gathers them, and what they worshiped besides God, He will say, “Was it you who misled these servants of Mine, or was it they who lost the way?”
18. They will say, “Glory be to You. It was not for us to take any lords besides You. But you gave them enjoyments, and their ancestors, until they forgot the Message, and became ruined people.”
19. They have denied you because of what you say; so you can neither avert, nor help. Whoever among you commits injustice, We will make him taste a grievous punishment.
20. We never sent any messengers before you, but they ate food and walked in the marketplaces. And We made some of you tempters for one another—will you be patient? Your Lord is always Observing.
This is the commentary.
These words contain a clear prophecy that the Prophet and his followers will receive the good things of this life too. The gardens of Mesopotamia, the palaces of Persia and of the Caesars, were given to the companions of the Holy Prophet.
The Garden is promised to the faithful but they should pray to their Lord for its bestowal, because prayer to God is the means by which it can be attained.
The words it was not beseeming for us that we should take for protectors others besides Thee show that those who worshipped God alone could not ask their followers to worship others than God. The reference is clearly to Jesus Christ.
This is an injunction to the Muslims to bear the persecutions of their opponents patiently, for these trials will distinguish the bad from the good. The concluding words are a solace to them: Thy Lord is ever Seeing — He will punish the oppressors.
Not a lot of commentary here..... until I get to verse 18 and then, according to the commentary, Jesus is brought up again.
Quran 25:18. They will say, “Glory be to You. It was not for us to take any lords besides You. But you gave them enjoyments, and their ancestors, until they forgot the Message, and became ruined people.”
It's a shame some well meaning humans made Mary into a goddess. That did so much damage to shadow or even destroy the message Jesus endured so much to bring. See.... the Muslims have stated they don't believe Jesus could be the Son of God.... since Mary was only a human. They put God on this pedestal and Mary is an inconsequential dot at the bottom of the pedestal. So Jesus could not be God.... or even a god.... since His mother was human. The Greeks were polytheists. They had a god for everything. I had a feeling they could explain the interjection of Mary as a goddess would make Jesus less than the Son of God. Look at the story of Hercules.
Hercules' mother, Alcmene, was a mortal beauty who just happened to be the granddaughter of the demigod, Perseus (son of Zeus who killed Medusa). Perseus and his wife Andromeda had a son called Electryon who was the King of Tiryns and Mycenae. There are varying versions as to who Alcmene’s mother was, but the most common thread is that she was the daughter of Electryon and his wife, Anaxo. Since Electryon was a King and only quarter-god (his father Perseus was a demigod and his mother Andromeda was human), Alceme, his daughter was very much a human princess considering her mother was also human.
If Jesus had come to earth riding a chariot with lightning firing at His command, drawn by horses that breath fire and trample anyone who questions their existence... everyone would believe Him to be the Son of God. But, according to these verses, since he came to a stable as an infant born to a mortal human.... He could not possibly be the Only Begotten Son of the One True Living God. But what faith would humans exhibit for Believing? I mean a lightning firing being is more than human... right? So there's no challenge requiring Belief to show an Act of Faith. Jesus really requires an Act of Faith to join the Family of Believers.
Back to TV again. Hubby and I have been watching a series called "Midnight Mass". There is a "nun" who spouts just the right verses to make her points. Hubby says I am distracting him with all my groaning. BUT in my defense... you should hear the verses she is weaving together. It's just like some of the preachers on the religion channel. The episode I just watched.... was like Jonestown... drinking of the Kool-Aid. I see that happening everywhere.
Hercules was regarded as a lesser god... because he had some "god" in him.
Jesus was almost all God.... sure there were some human attributes.... He had to become human because that's how He could understand human temptation.
If we believe that God could hold back the water while Moses and two million refugees could ford on dry ground.... and then let loose of the water to drown the Egyptian army that was pursuing those refugees..... why would we not believe that God used a human girl to give Jesus the humanity He would have to survive to put an end to temptation's sting.
Somewhere along the line.... humans started worshipping Mary as a goddess who gave birth to a god who required our prayers and worship. Somewhere along the line... some Christians shifted their prayers from God to Jesus. I bet that confuses a lot of people.
These verses are about the "Godliness" of Jesus.
