Quran 30:28. He illustrates an example for you, from your own selves: do you make your servants full partners in the wealth We have given you? Do you revere them as you revere one another? We thus explain the revelations for a people who understand.
29. Yet the wrongdoers follow their desires without knowledge. But who can guide whom God leaves astray? They will have no helpers.
30. So devote yourself to the religion of monotheism—the natural instinct God has instilled in mankind. There is no altering God’s creation. This is the true religion, but most people do not know.
31. Turning towards Him—and be conscious of Him, and perform the prayer, and do not be of the idolaters.
32. Of those who divided their religion, and became sects; each faction pleased with what they have.
33. When affliction touches the people, they call on their Lord, turning to Him in repentance. But then, when He gives them a taste of His mercy, some of them attribute partners to their Lord.
34. To show ingratitude for what We have given them. Indulge yourselves—you will surely know.
35. Have We sent down to them any authority, which speaks in support of their idols?
36. When We give people a taste of mercy, they rejoice in it. But when adversity befalls them, because of what their hands have perpetrated, they begin to despair.
37. Do they not see that God expands the provision for whomever He wills, or restricts it? Surely in this are signs for people who believe.
38. So give the relative his rights, and the destitute, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek God’s presence. Those are the prosperous.
39. The usury you practice, seeking thereby to multiply people’s wealth, will not multiply with God. But what you give in charity, desiring God’s approval—these are the multipliers.
40. God is He who created you, then provides for you, then makes you die, then brings you back to life. Can any of your idols do any of that? Glorified is He, and Exalted above what they associate.
Here's today's commentary.
Mathal, the word translated as state here, means really ©ifat, i.e., description, condition, state or case; and it is then used as meaning a description by way of comparison or a similitude (LL).
If the master and the slave are not equal, how can inanimate objects, such as stones, from among His creatures be equal to the Creator, Who is the Intelligent Cause and Controller of all?
Islåm according to this verse is the natural religion of man, or a religion to the truth of which human nature bears testimony. Its fundamental principles, the Unity and all-comprehensive providence of Allåh, the universality of Divine revelation, and the accountability for all actions in a life after death, are recognized by all religions and all nations, and their universal acceptance is a clear evidence that it is the very nature of man that bears testimony to their truth. Islåm removes all limitations upon these three fundamental doctrines of the religion of humanity, and gives them as wide a significance as humanity itself. No other religion in the world has claimed to be the natural religion of man. There is a saying of the Holy Prophet to the same effect: “Every child that is born conforms to the true religion (literally, human nature), then his parents make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian, as a beast is born entire in all its limbs (or without a defect); do you see one born maimed and mutilated?” Then he repeated (i.e., in support of what he said): “The nature made by Allåh in which He has created men; there is no altering Allåh’s creation. That is the right religion”.
No prophet can be shown to have received a revelation setting up creatures on an equal or co-operative plane with the Creator. Every such doctrine, besides being against the testimony of human nature and reason, stands condemned because of the absence of any revelation in its support.
Charity to man is the practical outcome of the doctrine of the brotherhood of man, which is one of the two principles of the natural religion of man. As Islåm has made the doctrine of the brotherhood of man a practical doctrine, it is always referred to in the Qur’ån in words enjoining charity on man for his brother-man.
This verse lays stress upon the doctrine of charity to one’s fellow-man. It says that some men there are who seek to increase their wealth by means of getting interest on money, i.e., they seek an increase of their wealth at the expense of other men’s property; but that a Muslim should seek an increase of his wealth by giving it, for the sake of Allåh, to help his brother-man.
Nobody can measure up against God. That means.... if any man.... any man.... rich or poor.... blue or pink or purple.... tall or short.... any man... were to stand next to God.... God would tower over them. It doesn't matter if they are an NBA All-Star.... God would make them look like an ant in comparison. Ever seen a picture of God? Camera's don't have a lens for a picture that big!No one stands up to God. Jesus sit's on His right hand but Jesus doesn't equal His Father. Jesus asked His Father's permission at Gethsemane. No one stacks up to God... not even the Son who survived the Cross.
The neighborhood "dog park" is right across the street from me. I have it in " because there is no fence.... dogs and owners just have to get along... and humans have to pick up the poop. That's the "rule". Dogs, however, don't read so they don't know they are supposed to get along. There are a couple of dogs... who wear the cutest doggie outfits.... who act like their butt is too good to be sniffed. Then there are a couple of dogs who look like a train ran over them before they went to the pound to be adopted by an old geezer for company..... who insist on sniffing butt. Then there are a couple of dogs who figure their human will protect them and they are calm and relaxed through it all.
I think these verses could be saying humans are like the dogs in the park across the street. They have instinct..... they have what they have learned..... they do as they have learned. Humans are like dogs.... only on top of instinct and the ability to learn.... Humans have God.
Parents are the big twist in all this. If the parent is a Bible Thumping Southern Baptist who runs the local grocery store and thinks their poop doesn't stink because they are rich, the kids will grow up to be either Bible Thumping Southern Baptists or they will be outcast. In this book... they will be Muslims or Outcasts.
What parents teach counts!
What parents teach the pups!
