Quran 32:12. If only you could see the guilty, bowing their heads before their Lord: “Our Lord, we have seen and we have heard, so send us back, and we will act righteously; we are now convinced.”
13. Had We willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the declaration from Me will come true: “I will fill Hell with jinn and humans, altogether.”
14. So taste, because you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours; We have forgotten you; so taste the eternal torment for what you used to do.
15. They believe in Our communications, those who, when reminded of them, fall down prostrate, and glorify their Lord with praise, and are not proud.
16. Their sides shun their beds, as they pray to their Lord, out of reverence and hope; and from Our provisions to them, they give.
17. No soul knows what eye’s delight awaits them—a reward for what they used to do.
18. Is someone who is faithful like someone who is a sinner? They are not equal.
19. As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them are the Gardens of Shelter—hospitality for what they used to do.
20. But as for those who transgressed, their shelter is the Fire. Every time they try to get out of it, they will be brought back into it, and it will be said to them, “Taste the suffering of the Fire which you used to deny.”
21. We will make them taste the lesser torment, prior to the greater torment, so that they may return.
22. Who is more wrong than he, who, when reminded of his Lord’s revelations, turns away from them? We will certainly wreak vengeance upon the criminals.
Here's the commentary.
God’s word, as repeated so often in the Holy Qur’ån, is that the right way has been pointed out to man but he is given the choice to accept or reject it, and that those who rejected that word and did not forsake evil ways would go to hell. The reference in if We had pleased is to the fact that man is not compelled to submit to the Divine law. His superiority lies in the fact that he has been given a choice. If he exercises that choice rightly, he attains to eminence; if he exercises it wrongly, he must taste of the evil consequences of his deeds.
The literal significance of the original words for they forsake is their sides draw away from, showing that they are restless in their beds. These are the foundations of the culture of Islåm, passing part of the night in remembering Allåh, and passing the day in earning wealth to spend in the way of Allåh for the benefit of humanity.
This is a true description of what the blessings of paradise are: No soul knows what refreshment of the eyes is hidden for them. These blessings are hidden from the physical eye of man, and therefore their description in words which convey to the mind an idea of the blessings of this life is metaphorical. Words cannot reveal to us the real nature of those blessings. The Holy Prophet’s own comment on these words show the truth of this statement, for he is reported to have said: “Allåh says, I have prepared for My righteous servants that which no eye has seen and no ear has heard, and which the heart of man cannot conceive”.
By the nearer chastisement is meant the earthly punishment, which might serve as a warning against the greater punishment of the Hereafter. The opponents of Truth are thus told that they must taste a punishment in this life, too, and the description of it given in the previous verse — whenever they desire to go forth from it, they are brought back into it — manifestly applies to modern world conditions, when materialism has taken hold of the minds of men. The wars at present raging in the world are the fire of this life, and, however much the warring nations may desire to get out of them, they are brought back into them.
As I write these notes, Hubby is in the other room watching the news. Today Russia might move across the border. Unlike all the other wars Hubby and I have watched from the safety of our home.... this one bothers us. This one, we fear, might just be the last World War. As I opened the verses this morning.... I saw it's another chapter on the difference between Believers and Disbelievers.... Believers go to Heaven.... Disbelievers go to Hades. But.... that's not quite what I learned.
I have learned the meaning of not letting my side hit the bed when I should be on my knees. When I read verse 16 my imagination went to work and I saw a man in a turban laying on a bed. That's when I got it.... don't go to bed without saying your prayers. Don't end your day until you have spoken with God. What a cool way to describe it.
Then check out verse 16.... Believers and Disbelievers are not the same. I have something to live for.
Why would I be given eternal life.... if I didn't have something to live for?
Careful though.... Jesus brought us eternal life.... and some may have eternal life in Hades.... in other words.... for those who don't have anything to Believe in.... it's going to get a lot worse..... verse 13 says God plans to fill Hades with ignorant horrid humans and jinn.
I googled jinn again.... it's plural for jinni.... which is an invisible shape shifter..... a spirit... like a ghoul.... a demon like creature. yuk.....
So as the global politics heat up.... the Jinn are whispering to the Disbelievers.... and the Believers are learning to trust.... Believers go to Heaven....
These verses are about the fate of Believers vs. Disbelievers....
