Quran 40:11. They will say, “Our Lord, you made us die twice, and twice you gave us life. Now we acknowledge our sins. Is there any way out?”
12. That is because when God alone was called upon, you disbelieved; but when others were associated with Him, you believed. Judgment rests with God the Sublime, the Majestic.
13. It is He who shows you His wonders, and sends down sustenance from the sky for you. But none pays heed except the repentant.
14. So call upon God, with sincere devotion to Him, even though the disbelievers resent it.
15. Exalted in rank, Owner of the Throne. He conveys the Spirit, by His command, upon whomever He wills of His servants, to warn of the Day of Encounter.
16. The Day when they will emerge, nothing about them will be concealed from God. “To whom does the sovereignty belong today?” “To God, the One, the Irresistible.”
17. On that Day, every soul will be recompensed for what it had earned. There will be no injustice on that Day. God is quick to settle accounts.
18. And warn them of the Day of Imminence, when the hearts are at the throats, choking them. The evildoers will have no intimate friend, and no intercessor to be obeyed.
19. He knows the deceptions of the eyes, and what the hearts conceal.
20. God judges with justice, while those whom they invoke besides Him cannot judge with anything. It is God who is the Hearing, the Seeing.
21. Have they not travelled through the earth, and seen the consequences for those before them? They were stronger than them, and they left more impact on earth. But God seized them for their sins, and they had no defender against God.
22. That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so God seized them. He is Strong, Severe in retribution.
23. We sent Moses with Our signs, and a clear authority.
24. To Pharaoh, Hamaan, and Quaroon. But they said, “A lying sorcerer.”
25. Then, when he came to them with the truth from Us, they said, “Kill the sons of those who have believed with him, and spare their daughters.” But the scheming of the unbelievers can only go astray.
26. Pharaoh said, “Leave me to kill Moses, and let him appeal to his Lord. I fear he may change your religion, or spread disorder in the land.”
27. Moses said, “I have sought the protection of my Lord and your Lord, from every tyrant who does not believe in the Day of Account.

Here's the commentary.

The first state of death is the state of nothingness from which man is brought into existence, the second life being the life after death.
In almost all the great religions at the advent of Islåm, some kind of shirk was mixed with the doctrine of pure Unity to which Islåm invited people.
The meaning is simply that God provides the means of sustenance; or, the sustenance from heaven means the spiritual sustenance.
The r∂√ (spirit) is here spoken of as being granted only to the elect, and the object is to warn men; hence r∂ƒ means the Divine revelation, not the soul which is given to every man. By the day of Meeting is meant the day of meeting with God.
It is implied that the hidden consequences of the deeds will be made manifest on that day, for from Allåh nothing is hidden.
Åzifah is from azafa, meaning it drew near, and hence yaum al-åzifah is the day that draws near. It is the nearer punishment of this life that is spoken of here.
The verse depicts the state of the hearts of the disbelievers on the day of their vanquishment.
Åthår is plural of athar, which means a mark, and also a monument or memorial of antiquity. Here it is considered to signify great buildings and fortifications.
The words do not indicate that the message to Pharaoh and Håmån and Korah was given at one and the same time. All that is meant is that these three were the chief men who did not accept his message and they were destroyed.
It is not meant that all the three persons mentioned in the previous verse met Moses with this reply. A perusal of the verses that follow will show that the speaker here is only Pharaoh, as advised by his chiefs, both he and Håmån being mentioned by name, the latter in v. 36, while no mention is made of Korah.

Pharaoh was afraid of what Moses was teaching. The big guy in the tallest mansion was afraid of what an orphan was teaching. Remember.... Moses was put in the river to avoid being murdered for being of Jewish heritage. He was an orphan.... raised by the richest man in the territories with his own mom as a wet-nurse.

Pharaoh was the richest most powerful man around... so he was god.

Right this very moment I can think of a few people who are in pharaoh's shoes. These humans have so many "yes" men on their payroll, they think they are flawless.... godly.... and all they are is deluded.

The problem in Egypt was.... Pharaoh thought he was god. Everyone worshipped him. If they didn't.... they would be thrown into prison or beaten or poisoned or murdered in some other nefarious way... but everyone worshipped him. Moses came along talking about his "God". Who did Moses think he was? There is only one god... shiny baubles... power.... and Pharaoh was convinced Moses was talking against him and Moses had to go.

When Moses pulled over 2,000,000 refugees out of Egypt.... God gave him laws of civilization. The Ten Commandments put God in charge.

Pharaoh thought he was god. Moses knew different. Pharaoh knew that if Moses got the message out that Pharaoh was a mere mortal and humans owe their allegiance to God, not a pharaoh or a moses....... he would be less powerful.... and a pharaoh is not less powerful than anyone. Yeah right... no human is bigger than one God chooses. No human can be god... any human who thinks he is god.... is deluded.

Pharaoh was deluded.
