Quran 41:19. The Day when God’s enemies are herded into the Fire, forcibly.
20. Until, when they have reached it, their hearing, and their sight, and their skins will testify against them regarding what they used to do.
21. And they will say to their skins, “Why did you testify against us?” They will say, “God, Who made all things speak, made us speak. It is He who created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.”
22. You were unable to hide yourselves from your hearing, and your sight, and your skins, to prevent them from testifying against you, and you imagined that God was unaware of much of what you do.
23. It is that thought of yours about your Lord that led you to ruin—so you became of the losers.
24. If they endure patiently, the Fire will be their residence; and if they make up excuses, they will not be pardoned.
25. We had assigned companions for them, who glamorized to them what was in front of them, and what was behind them. And the Word proved true against them in communities of jinn and humans that have passed away before them. They were losers.
26. Those who disbelieve say, “Do not listen to this Quran, and talk over it, so that you may prevail.”
27. We will make those who disbelieve taste an intense agony, and We will recompense them according to the worst of what they used to do.
28. Such is the recompense of God’s enemies—the Fire—where they will have their permanent home, in recompense for having disregarded Our revelations.
29. Those who disbelieved will say, “Our Lord, show us those who led us astray—among jinn and humans—and we will trample them under our feet, so they become of the lowest.”
30. Surely, those who say: “Our Lord is God,” and then go straight, the angels will descend upon them: “Do not fear, and do not grieve, but rejoice in the news of the Garden which you were promised.
31. We are your allies in this life and in the Hereafter, wherein you will have whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you call for.
32. As Hospitality from an All-Forgiving, Merciful One.”

There isn't much commentary this morning.

The bearing of witness by the ears and the eyes and the skin shows the truth of the law that the consequences of evil deeds will become manifest.
25a. These comrades are wicked companions.
God’s goodwill can be gained in this life, and for those who waste that opportunity here the only way to that goodwill is to go through the ordeal of Fire.
Vv. 30 and 31 show that it is in this life that the angels descend upon the faithful, giving them the joyful news that they should not have any fear. In fact, it is here, when the faithful are persecuted and oppressed, and when the powers of evil seem to have the upper hand, that such assurances are most needed, and it is here that the angels give them comfort and strength to bear hardships, and thus they ultimately overcome the forces of evil.

So.... on this earth we have the opportunity to make good decisions or bad ones. For fifty two years I smoked cigarettes. For years I never left the house without two packs of cigarettes and a lighter. I've braved oncoming hurricanes and blizzards to make sure I had enough cigarettes to make it through. I worked from the age of fifteen to buy my cigarettes.... when I started they were twelve cents a pack and the day I quit... I paid nearly two dollars. But when I quit.... I noticed I carried a haze all over me. Any skin that was exposed carried a nicotine haze. It's no wonder Squamous Cell broke out on both arms.

It's the "skin" in verse 21 that tells on us. I have scars all over me.... some people collect tattoos.... I apparently collect scars. Each and every scar on my body has a memory attached. My first ride big bike wreck is still evident on my knee. That time I ran out of my best friend's house, directly into that newly trimmed bush and the limb tore my leg... is displayed on my right leg. The car wreck I was in when I was sixteen is on my cheek. There are two cancer scars on my arms, one on each. My belly is all scars and lumps from cancer and gall bladder surgeries... and the surgeries required to take the inert meshes they used out when they got infected and caked with cancer. Mine scars aren't just from surgery or illness.... my scars are the result of the many tales in my life. That's what verse 21 is talking about.... your skin will tell on you!

It says here that while we are on earth... the angels will guard us. It also says... If we accept God as our God.... life will go easier.

One thing for sure.... if we don't accept God as our God.... life after death will NOT go easy at all... and we won't be able to talk our way out of it.

I guess our skin will tell the story then too.... will we be scorched?
