Quran 41:45. We gave Moses the Book, but disputes arose concerning it. Were it not for a prior decree from your Lord, judgment would have been pronounced between them. But they are in perplexing doubt concerning it.
46. Whoever acts righteously does so for himself; and whoever works evil does so against himself. Your Lord is not unjust to the servants.
47. To Him is referred the knowledge of the Hour. No fruit emerges from its sheath, and no female conceives or delivers, except with His knowledge. And on the Day when He calls out to them, “Where are My associates?” They will say, “We admit to you, none of us is a witness.”
48. What they used to pray to before will forsake them, and they will realize that they have no escape.
49. The human being never tires of praying for good things; but when adversity afflicts him, he despairs and loses hope.
50. And when We let him taste a mercy from Us, after the adversity that had afflicted him, he will say, “This is mine, and I do not think that the Hour is coming; and even if I am returned to my Lord, I will have the very best with Him.” We will inform those who disbelieve of what they did, and We will make them taste an awful punishment.
51. When We provide comfort for the human being, he withdraws and distances himself; but when adversity befalls him, he starts lengthy prayers.
52. Say, “Have you considered? If it is from God and you reject it—who is further astray than he who is cutoff and alienated?”
53. We will show them Our proofs on the horizons, and in their very souls, until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient that your Lord is witness over everything?
54. Surely they are in doubt about the encounter with their Lord. Surely He comprehends everything.
Here's today's commentary. The words indicate man’s ungratefulness for Divine blessings. He does not recognize Divine goodness in those gifts, but says “this is due to me”, i.e., I have obtained it by my own exertion and I deserve it. And then he denies the Judgment.
The word åf åq means borders or extremeties of the earth, or its remote sides, and the great message conveyed here is that Islåm will spread to the most distant regions of the earth — anfusi-him denoting their own people, or the Arabs. What is stated here is this that Islåm will quickly spread, not only in Arabia but in the remote regions of the earth, and this prophecy is contained in a chapter revealed early at Makkah, when Muslims were being severely persecuted and the message of Islåm had apparently little hope of finding acceptance anywhere. If the prophecy is so clear, its fulfilment is clearer still. Within twenty years of its birth, Islåm spread through the whole of Arabia, and within a hundred years, it reached the farthest regions of the earth, both in the East and the West. Both the prophecy and its fulfilment are thus two of the most amazing facts of history
I want to give Islam it's due. It spread around the world.... as they said it would. I still don't know who "We" and "They" is. But I do know that whoever "They" are.... they are trying to explain to "they who reject" who God is and why they should be interested.I googled it and here is a bit of history I did not know.
635 AD Persians Defeated- Under Omar, the Arabs begin a series of campaigns against the Persian Empire. They first lose to the Persians at the Battle of the Bridge, only to defeat the Persians in 635 at Tel Buwayb. Omar goes on to win a series of battles. The Battle of Nehawand in central Persia completed his conquest of the Persian Empire in 642. |
637 AD Jerusalem Surrendered- Omar began a campaign against the Byzantines. The Arab forces defeated the Byzantines at the Battle of Yarmuk. The Arabs took Damascus and Emessa. In 638 Jerusalem surrendered to Omar's forces. Ceasaria and Aleppo were soon taken as well. |
So... apparently those warriors were pretty bad arses.... they took on the Persians who had defeated Jerusalem centuries before... and then those Islamic warriors moved into Jerusalem themselves. They say.... they are just letting the world know about Islam. Sounds like the Irish and the Puritans.... Just letting those Indians know about Christianity.
I think these verses are about the spread of Islam.... and why it spread so quickly.
People get bored.... they take God for Granted. Islam came along and woke them up again. Islam woke them up and send them back to prayer meetings.
People say "I can do it by myself".... but every now and then God has to sent people back to their knees.
It's about the spread of Islam.
