Quran 42:44. Whoever God leaves astray has no protector apart from Him. And you will see the transgressors, when they see the torment, saying, “Is there a way of going back?”
45. And you will see them exposed to it, cowering from disgrace, looking with concealed eyes. Those who believed will say, “The losers are those who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection.” Indeed, the evildoers are in a lasting torment.
46. They will have no allies to support them against God. Whomever God leaves astray has no way out.
47. Respond to your Lord before there comes from God a Day that cannot be turned back. You will have no refuge on that Day, and no possibility of denial.
48. But if they turn away—We did not send you as a guardian over them. Your only duty is communication. Whenever We let man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it; but when misfortune befalls them, as a consequence of what their hands have perpetrated, man turns blasphemous.
49. To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatever He wills. He grants daughters to whomever He wills, and He grants sons to whomever He wills.
50. Or He combines them together, males and females; and He renders whomever He wills sterile. He is Knowledgeable and Capable.
51. It is not for any human that God should speak to him, except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by sending a messenger to reveal by His permission whatever He wills. He is All-High, All-Wise.
52. We thus inspired you spiritually, by Our command. You did not know what the Scripture is, nor what faith is, but We made it a light, with which We guide whomever We will of Our servants. You surely guide to a straight path.
53. The path of God, to whom belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Indeed, to God all matters revert.

Here's the commentary.

The birth of a daughter was looked upon by the Arabs as a calamity, this being due to the low position which women held in society. The wonderful change brought about by Islåm in the status of woman is clearly foreshadowed in this early revelation, where the daughter has the precedence over the son.
This verse shows how Allåh speaks to a person or makes known His will to him. Three modes of this are stated: (1) by wa√y, which word is generally translated as meaning revelation. The primary significance of the word wa√y is, however, a hasty suggestion, and since the different kinds of revelation are spoken of here, the meaning intended must be the primary significance of the word. Hence the inspired word, which enters the hearts of the prophets and of the righteous, is called wa√y or revelation, because it is like a hasty suggestion made directly to the heart of the inspired one, ilqå-’un fi-l-rau‘i. It is in this sense that a revelation is spoken of as being granted to the mother of Moses, and to the apostles of Jesus who were not prophets . (2) The second mode of Allåh’s speaking to His servants is that He speaks from behind a veil — a scene is shown as in a vision carrying deeper significance, or words are heard by the person spoken to as from behind a veil. (3) The third form of revelation is that in which a messenger — an angel — is chosen by the Almighty to deliver His message to the person to whom He wishes to speak. This is the highest form of revelation, and such is the revelation of the Qur’ån as granted to the Holy Prophet, being recited by Gabriel. This is called wa√y matluww or revelation that is recited. This revelation is granted only to prophets, while the other two may also be granted to the righteous who are not raised to the dignity of prophethood. It should, however, be borne in mind that in all these cases the recipient of the revelation is granted certain other senses. He sees what others do not see and he hears words which others do not hear. It is, therefore, with what may be called the spiritual senses that he hears and sees and feels things which others do not hear, see, or feel.
Thus refers to the last mode of granting revelation, because the Holy Qur’ån is spoken of as having been brought by the Angel Gabriel or the Faithful Spirt.
The use of the word r∂√ (“inspired Book”) as meaning inspiration, and not the soul, is conclusive here. The Qur’ån is called the r∂√ or the spirit, because it gave life to a dead world. It is dead again, and again will life be breathed into it by the Qur’ån.

Sons wielded power back when this was written. Daughters.... well they were treated worse than male slaves. You would think... since the man carries millions of swimmers... and women only a finite number of eggs... the women would be more powerful.... but alas.... God created Adam before He upgraded and created Eve.

When I first started reading this Quran.... I noted that women were given rights. In the Bible... women "without a man" can be land owners and run their affairs. In the Quran.... the man is not in the picture at all. God fearing women.... can conduct business and own property.

Verse 44, however, really got to me! It says.... "when you figure out where you are going.... you will say.... isn't there a way out?"

I am reminded of my sister.... and my mom.... and the switch. When my sister did something my mom didn't approve of.... and that wasn't often, I admit.... my mom would send her for a switch from the switch bush. She, like all of us, would have to pick the switch and then test it... it had to whistle as it whipped... and she would cry all the way to the bush and all the way back. My sister would do something I didn't do. My sister would beg. She would try to make amends.

I am reminded of my sister.... because that's what I think a lot of people are planning on doing. They'll glide along... just barely legal.... just skirting the borders of mean.... and when they "accidentally" [it was always an accident when my sister got caught] step over the line... they will beg. They will plead... "Please God... I didn't mean to do those things... it was an accident.... I tried to be good.... didn't I try?"

I have always envisioned men as the taskmasters in Hades.... but maybe... through the Quran.... and the upgrade in the women's status.... maybe women will be the taskmasters in Hades. I'm sure if God lets women have the upper hand... there are a lot of men who beg even louder. Heck... some women might think it's Heaven since they get to be taskmasters over men. Maybe that's what will make the men beg!!!

These verses warn.... once you breath that last breath.... you are going to Heaven or Hades.
