Quran 43:26. When Abraham said to his father and his people, “I am innocent of what you worship.
27. Except for He who created me, for He will guide me.”
28. And he made it an enduring word in his progeny, so that they may return.
29. I gave these and their forefathers some enjoyment, until the truth and a manifest messenger came to them.
30. But when the truth came to them, they said, “This is sorcery, and we refuse to believe in it.”
31. They also said, “If only this Quran was sent down to a man of importance from the two cities.”
32. Is it they who allocate the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have allocated their livelihood in this life, and We elevated some of them in rank above others, that some of them would take others in service. But your Lord’s mercy is better than what they amass.
33. Were it not that humanity would become a single community, We would have provided those who disbelieve in the Most Gracious with roofs of silver to their houses, and stairways by which they ascend.
34. And doors to their houses, and furnishings on which they recline.
35. And decorations. Yet all that is nothing but the stuff of this life. Yet the Hereafter, with your Lord, is for the righteous.
Here's the commentary. This shows that the Arabs possessed enduring traditions that their great ancestor Abraham was a preacher of Unity.
The two towns referred to are Makkah and Ôå’if. They would not follow any but an important man of the world, a man possessing much wealth or high rank. Moral greatness possessed no value in their eyes.
Human society is based on differences in rank. It is only through this difference that society can be organized and developed into a State, whether it be socialistic Russia or capitalist England and America. From these differences in the external conditions of men, the conclusion is drawn that differences must exist in the spiritual sphere too, and some people are chosen to guide others. Allåh’s choice for prophethood does not, however, depend on wealth, but on internal worth.
Gold and silver have no worth or value in the sight of Allåh, and He would grant these things to disbelievers to any extent they desire, were it not that most people would be misled by these worldly temptations. The verse undoubtedly draws a picture of the modern condition of the world, where man’s whole energy is devoted to the acquisition of wealth and more wealth and material gains and more material gains, and he is shutting his eyes altogether to the moral values of life, with the result that the world today stands on the brink of an abyss of utter destruction.
This is a particularly heavy day to be reading that worldly goods are damnable. Here's the deal... today I am going to be a vendor at an Earth Day event in Apache Junction, AZ. I make dolls. I taught myself how to thread a needle with one eye.... so I can sew with one eye blind. If I sell out of dolls... I will have $750.00. The fabric used to make these dolls is from clothes that don't fit anymore as well as worn out sheets and pillowcases..... and the stuffing etc... well I got that for Christmas. Each doll, however, takes about 2 days to construct and clothe. So most of the $750 will be labor. If I sell out...Hubby and I will have an argument to finish. I want to use the money to purchase the services of a medical expert report. I want to pay a doctor to write a report confirming I lost my vision due to an omission or error. That will get me to court. Without the report, my case will be dismissed and I will not get my day in court. But, as hubby will tell me.... I will have to come up with more money to get the doctor to arrive in court and say the same thing in front of the judge. It's more money I don't have.... but the point Hubby is missing... once I get the statement as to "causation"..... I can hire a lawyer on commission. It's the way the court system out in Arizona works... pay for play. Hubby says "you can't win.... we cannot afford it". I say.... the man blinded me.... if we don't find out how... he'll blind others.... and it's expensive to be blind.
The courts have turned into a pay for play because of frivolous suits brought by ambulance chasers.... while people are being blinded. This, in my opinion, is a product of capitalism. There is no moral value in justice here.
God says... don't be so stuck on money.... it only makes the world go around... it doesn't mean a thing in Heaven.... and in Hades... the fact they won't have money to buy their judges.... well that will be the lawyer's hellish demise won't it?!?
Hubby said "we discussed this... we cannot afford it" to which I replied.... "you discussed this.... if I see this doctor and he says it's not the surgeon's fault... then I will get on with healing.... but if he says I'm right... I can get on with stopping it from happening to others. Then I can get on with healing".
Moral value ..... that's what is missing!
