Quran 43:36. Whoever shuns the remembrance of the Most Gracious, We assign for him a devil, to be his companion.
37. They hinder them from the path, though they think they are guided.
38. Until, when he comes to Us, he will say, “If only there were between me and you the distance of the two Easts.” What an evil companion!
39. It will not benefit you on that Day, since you did wrong. You are partners in the suffering.
40. Can you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind, and him who is in evident error?
41. Even if We take you away, We will wreak vengeance upon them.
42. Or show you what We have promised them; for We have absolute power over them.
43. So adhere to what is revealed to you. You are upon a straight path.
44. It is a message for you, and for your people; and you will be questioned.
45. Ask those of Our messengers We sent before you: “Did We appoint gods besides the Most Gracious to be worshiped?”
Here's the commentary.

As v. 37 shows, the devil here is the evil companion who leads man to evil.

The word which I translate the East and the West is mashriqain, which would literally signify the two Easts. But the dual number in such cases often denotes the thing mentioned with its opposite. Thus mashriqain means the place of sunrise and the place of sunset.
V. 41 describes the general law of the punishment of the wicked; even if the Prophet dies, the wicked will meet their doom. But that the general statement should not give rise to any misconception, we are immediately told that the Prophet would see the discomfiture of his enemies with his own eyes.
My event went really well. I earned a little over $300 in four hours [six if you count set up and tear down]. But that's not enough to hire an medical expert... so I will stop. I've been blinded by a doctor ... but I'm old and it doesn't matter. I'm not rich enough to get someone to say "yes she was blinded and here's what you did to her". I'm not going to save someone else from being blinded. My family wants me to stop.... "it's a money pit" they say.

I wonder if that's how I'm supposed to translate these verses. I mean it clearly says... if I don't stay away from wicked people... they could cause me to go down the wrong path. I'm old... what does it matter if I go wild now? I mean can't I blind someone else and get away with it like the doctor did? It really doesn't seem to matter if we are doing good.... bad things still happen to us. God watches to see how we handle it.

It really doesn't matter what "I" think is "fair" in life. I only matters what God thinks is fair.... and He's going to watch to see how I handle the "unfair" in life. God sees the future... so He already knows how I will deal with the forks in the road. Some forks lead to rattlesnakes... and some lead to a lovable puppy.... but we have to choose the right path. If the rattlesnake doesn't actually bite me.... well then that road might lead back to the right path..... who knows... that lovable puppy might grow up to be a wolf or a coyote... that will be slick and deceitful in how I get led off the path.

God sends us people to tell us what to do. God sends us Prophets, and even His own Son, to tell us how to know the path. God sends us scouts with reports of what is ahead... and even how to avoid it.... but it's up to us to follow the path. They won't make us do the right thing... no more than they will force that doctor to figure out what he did to me..... but we would be smart to listen to them.

Judge Judy always says... "If it doesn't make sense... then it isn't the truth". How are we supposed to know who's a "prophet" talking for God.... and who's a "demon" talking for Satan? Well if it doesn't make sense.... then it isn't the truth. I could see before I went into surgery... and I have been blind ever sense. They say it was my fault.... I was going blind anyway... I say... I could see when I went into surgery and now I'm blind..... what makes sense? What's the truth?

We were all "blind" before Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammed came along and told us God is watching. It's up to us to choose to "see".

It's how you tell the truth from a lie.
