Quran 43: 46. We sent Moses with Our revelations to Pharaoh and his dignitaries. He said, “I am the Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds.”
47. But when he showed them Our signs, they started laughing at them.
48. Each sign We showed them was more marvelous than its counterpart. And We afflicted them with the plagues, so that they may repent.
49. They said, “O sorcerer, pray to your Lord for us, according to His pledge to you, and then we will be guided.
50. But when We lifted the torment from them, they immediately broke their promise.
51. Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, saying, “O my people, do I not own the Kingdom of Egypt, and these rivers flow beneath me? Do you not see?
52. Am I not better than this miserable wretch, who can barely express himself?
53. Why are bracelets of gold not dropped on him, or they angels came with him in procession?”
54. Thus he fooled his people, and they obeyed him. They were wicked people.
55. And when they provoked Our wrath, We took retribution from them, and We drowned them all.
56. Thus We made them a precedent and an example for the others.
Here's the commentary.

The meaning is that great signs were shown, each sign being greater than the one which preceded it. Just as the word akh means brother or an associate or a like, or a fellow, its fem. ukht means sister, or a like or a fellow (LL). According to R, ukht here means the sign that preceded it.
See Exod. ch. 8, from which it appears that every time a sign was shown Pharaoh entreated Moses to pray for the removal of the punishment, promising that he would not in that case oppose him.
Pharaoh’s suggestion is that, if Moses were the messenger of an Almighty God, he should have been a king, bracelets of gold signifying abundance of wealth. It is shown here that Pharaoh’s objection to Moses was similar to the objection of the Quraish to the Holy Prophet.
That is, Moses should have come with angels, as a king comes with his armies.
Pharaoh is like so many of us. We have this preconceived notion of what God will do..... and when He doesn't jump in the method we presume He must..... we don't believe the message.

Consider this..... three boys are together in a room with a covered hole in the middle... and one boy says to the others.... I'm the boss because I was born first and that makes me smarter. Another says I'm the boss because I'm richer... I know how to spend my money so it multiplies and that makes me smarter. And then the third boy says.... but Dad said for me to get and keep you too out of trouble..... He even gave me instructions for you to follow.... I'm not smarter... I just have Dad's instructions.

So the smarter and the richer.... they proceeded to "lead" each other around the room... but then the cover over the hole opened up. Of course the smarter and the richer started to fall in.... and they cried out for the third boy's help. They promised to follow his instructions.... so the third boy helped them get their feet under them again. But they refused to help the third boy seal up the hole again. They said if God had moved the cover... He would have sent angels and troops... He wouldn't have just had the seal appear to move. They even went so far as to say... if God was going to use the third boy to do His work.... He would have made Him a Handsome Genius of the right family.

Can you imagine the cover moving? God got tired of people mocking Him. God got tired of people thinking He will "perform" for them. God drown them all.... but the third boy.... He did as instructed and he was spared. It wasn't his fault the two other boys were obnoxious morons who thought their poop doesn't stink.... The third boy was obedient... He Believed...and He was spared.

Well... that's what these verses say to me... the same kind of story.

But what do I know.....
