Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11," which is expected to open on between 500 and 1000 screens next week, has been rated 'R' by the Motion Picture Association of America. Yesterday, the film's distributors, Lions Gate Films and IFC Films, issued a statement saying that they are appealing the decision. According to the statement from Lions Gate and IFC, the MPAA issued the rating for the film's "violent and disturbing images and for language."

So apparently it's ok to throw the rating system out the window so long as it bashes Bush???

The MPAA should have pushed for an NC-17 rating.

Not dead yet.
Here's a good comment from the Style invitational contest in yesterday's Post:

What's the difference between . . .
. . . Michael Moore and Osama bin Laden? One directed "9/11" to demoralize America, and the other is a terrorist. (Bob Dalton)

I wish they'd put it up on more screens so people can see for themselves what a nut job the guy is. :bubble: The more people rant and rave about how it shouldn't be shown, just fuels the liberal fire of quashing free speech. :duh: My feeling is, the more it's shown, the more damage it will do to the left. As a rightie, I'm all for that.

I disagree...

The people who are swing voters are usually waiting for someone that makes them "feel good" before choosing to vote. In general, I think that most of them don't have a structured set of ideals, and that's why they are in fact swing voters.

Also, people who dont' feel strongly one way or the other tend to believe whatever the media tells them, and they'd probably accept most documentaries, if they are believable, as unbiased truth.

I think this movie will hurt Bush the more it is shown. Most of those swing voters who will watch it will take it as gospel.

Never forget, that most people are inherently stupid. :ohwell:

Well I disagree to your disagree. :neener:

Most of your swing voters, are middle of the road, average decent folk (with a few Oprah watching nutty housewives), but for the most part, very patriotic. If the French loved it, patriotic swing voters will be seeing red with this film and will totally turn them off to left wing nutties. JMHO

Put me in the...

..."Go Christy, go" category.

If Moores latest master (batory) piece DOESN'T get seen then the cry of conspiracy goes up, just like JFK, just like Abu Graib and WMD in Iraq. When people CAN'T see what's going on, it make's us nervous and suspicious, naturally.

The 'Moore' people know (haw, haw) the better off we all are.

Put another way; if you are an idiot, better to keep your mouth shut and let people wonder than to open it and remove all doubt.
I LOVE it when idiots remove all doubt.

He was a somewhat 'mystery star' with the Canne crowd fawning over what only the 'chosen ones' saw. So now, open your mouth further.

Moore's star has fallen steadily from his "Me and Rodger" hey day where people could somewhat identify with a corporate evil, then his juvenile, vulgar treatment of Charlton Heston and Moore's intelectually vaccuous look at the 2nd Amendment, to all his talk show appearances to defend his poor behavior and now this.

It's like Al Franken and scAir America. Anyone can sound clever with a few soundbites. Anyone can sound wise with a few soundbites. Anyone can sound like they truly care with a few soundbites. Then, after the laughter dies down, what do you really have to say? What are you really about?

Come on Mike! Show everybody how you and the DU see the world!

I don't see swing voters as having unstructered ideals. They simply don't have ideals largely consistent with those of any political party.

As for Moore's movie. I doubt much of anyone who could be classified as a swing voter would even bother seeing it. Its more a movie for political zealots.
