Rabies in N. St Marys

Friends yesterday had confirmation that a skunk in their backyard did indeed have rabies. Luckily their dogs had been boosted recently and no humans came in close contact with it! They live in the area of RT 234 between Chaptico and Clements. Just wanted to let folks in the area to keep a lookout for any suspicious critters!

Our neighbor's dog killed a fox who had jumped into his kennel with him, and it was also Rabid. Cost me almost 600.00 to have the vet out and booster ALL the critters, cats, dogs and horses, but better safe than sorry, we have a TON of foxes in our woods. I'm off rt 235 near mechanicsville. The vet says rabid bats are really a problem too.

I had to tell my kiddo NOT to approach any wild animal that was acting oddly, or even overly friendly. She scouts the woods all the time with the dogs. DANGEROUS stuff. We are crawling (pun intended) with copperheads this year too. :dead: I kill them immediately.

I didn't used to be worried about the bats that fly around here and even thought about putting out some bat houses, but now I don't think I want to encourage them more. The ones we have now are just fine! I also will be doing an extra rabies shots for all our critters - now if I can just get my hands on that feral daddy cat.....
