Race controversy over

The frenzy has focused on three characters in particular: Rue (Amandla Sternberg) and Thresh (Dayo Okeniyi), the child tributes from District 11, as well as Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), the stylist assigned to Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), the movie's archer-heroine. In a curious twist of reading comprehension failure and racism, a few tweets have made the public rounds:

"why does rue have to be black gonna lie kinda ruined the movie."

"Kk call me racist but when I found out rue was black her death wasn't as sad. #ihatemyself."

"Awkward moment when Rue is some black girl and not the little blonde innocent girl you picture."

The casting issue surfaced late last year, after the character posters were released. Racialious guest contributor noted the reactionsposted on "The Hunger Games" Facebook page: "Everything from the innocuous 'She's not how I pictured her' to 'I was all sad and like 'she's black!'"

umm..the book describes her as being black  it is quite sad that these people read a book written for nearly illiterate 12 year olds..and still couldn’t grasp it. Makes me sad for the future, you know.. that and they are blatently and disgustingly racist.

me and my kid are going to go live in a cave..there's no hope.

its quite obvious Dayo Okeniyi is black...I mean, just look at those slanted eyes & that Japanese name...clearly she is from deep in the heart of Africa:sarcasm:

Probably just another leftist ploy to incite racial division

I just mentioned this to my ten year old (we listened to the audiobook on the way to GA for Christmas and he is re-reading it on my Kindle) and he said "They even said in the book that she had dark brown skin." Reading comprehension, he has it. :lmao:

What future? Whatever the black says is the way it is. Or whatever the next minority is, if there can be another one.

Sooooo sad. But truth...
