I identify as American, I like that.
He is American the same as I am though my ancestors were English, Scottish and German.

If you want to identify as African-American that's fine, but do not forget the American part .
I looked at both of the people and they both have a lot of white genes in them.
This lady is as much white as black, perhaps more, is that why she hates whites?

Never understood the hyphenation BS. One should be American of African descent. American of Italian decent. American of Irish decent. And so forth. It is akin to, say, putting the US flag in a subordinate position to that of a foreign flag on US soil. It, being a slap in the face of America.

There shouldn’t be any hyphenated Americans. Either you want to be be American or you don’t.
