Rain...Rain...

My yard is LOVING the rain right now...

I'm pretty happy too considering that I just put on the Scott's Turf Builder and was not looking forward to the intensive watering schedule.

Does anyone know how much rain we're supposed to get today? I thought it would be just a few showers, but it's pouring here in Leonardtown.

:yeahthat: to above posts.

I am home and about an hour ago I noticed a "Flash Flood Warning" go across the bottom of the screen. It didn't specify which county, so I presumed all.

I hate to break the news

The latest storm track from AccuWeather shows "Irene" possibly hitting us, hopefully indirectly.

http://www.geocities.com/stuartkirbyonline/StormTrackIRENE.jpg

The track has changed for a storm that was not expected to make landfall, and if the past two years have been any indication, "Irene" could pack a punch.

Almost a full 11 months after Ivan formed, and almost 23 months after Isabel spawned, "Irene" has already developed, and has peaked as a Tropical Storm. Now Tropical Depression and soon to be again Tropical Storm "Irene" shows a significant probability of hitting the Mid-Atlantic.

"Irene" is currently located 960 miles to the Southeast of the island of Bermuda, which has met the brunt of several storms already. Currently, "Irene" is a Tropical Depression with winds at 35 mph. She is moving to the West at 10 mph.

You need better links...like this one. With Irene's current tracking and historical hurricane patterns, it is likely to turn North and probably won't even make landfall. But we will probably get some rain from it.

Yes we do really need some rain and we are getting a nice steady rain over here so it is not running off. For what it is worth besides loving to fish I like yard stuff. I don't like Scott's products as they have not worked well for me. Another month and I will be putting down 10-10-10 and over seeding with good fescue. I apply "Weed Be Gone" during the spring and summer and have good luck. My yard keeps me busy and out of trouble.

Joe Bastardi mentioned yesterday that while many of his colleagues thought this storm would go away, he thought this storm may pose a problem for the East Coast. He was "right on" with his predictions for many of the storms last year.

Yeah I said the same thing myself - I guess great minds think alike :lmao: On that note, if the last two years were any indication, "Irene" could be the big one.

I don't read Joe Bastardi's column everyday, I usually get my forecasts from NBC "Weather PLUS" (Channel 208 Charles Comcast users) and "ABC 7 News" (Channel 7, Cable news chanel 8 and weather channel 204 in Charles County).

I listen to him on WMAL 630 in the mornings. He's pretty funny..corny but funny. He's fairly accurate on the snow storms too. He predicted that hurricance to loop around, can't remember which one, but he was the only one who got it right.
